OMG, My GP

Just had a phone call from my GP surgery asking me how I was coping with my Pernicious Anemia during the current situation. When I told her that I've been seft injecting she was suprised and then congratulated me on being able to do it. Before ending the call she thanked me for doing this as it provides a nurse appointment for someone else. Shame all GP's aren't as supportive

Well that’s really great that you have such a good G.P. 👍

Perhaps you will now get a prescription if you want it. ? At least the right response from them. Also demonstrating you can not go without.

I've been getting on prescription for the last 6 years, after a previous GP witheld my b12 injections. Alot of people don't seem to understand just how dangerous Pernicious Anemia is and how vital regular b12 injections are. When I was first diganosed in Jan 2010, I was told that I'd be fine and 'get over it'. In that time I've had a couple of bad points but since I've been self injecting my b12 levels are fairly stable and I'm in a good place. Being on this forum has been one of the best places I've found and has been a great source of advice and support.

What a completely unnecessary lottery this is turning out to be.

I really love it that you have such a supportive GP there - but mostly congratulations due to you for telling your GP the truth- whatever the reaction and subsequent practice response might have been. You have come a long way since January 2015 - well done !
