B12 RECEIVED

Maybe a silver lining for others but having told me yesterday that my b12 couldn't be done at this time due to covid, and my explanation of being tired and irritable, my nurse called me back and told me to come to the surgery where she did give me the injection.

So whilst they've been told not to do them, if you've a sympathetic nurse you just might get yours.

Good luck all

Hello all, I've just read on the 'red button' on BBC that there is a drop in parents getting their children immunised against whooping cough, measles etc , NHS England say essential vaccinations are still being given as long as none of the family are showing syptoms of covid-19, I absolutely agree children should still get their vaccinations , but surely there speaks the case of how important it is for people needing B12 injections that they should not be stopped......🤔

Hi my gp has shocked me by telling me that even after the pandemic my b12 injection may not be restored. It seems like some gps are refusing the jabs just now under the guise of no face to face appointments due to covid to see if patients can "manage" with tablets. In effect I will have to "prove" I need the jab and the only way I can do that is to become ill. Some surgeries are allowing self injection but many including mine are not. I was however told I could come in for a blood test??? After 13 years of b12 jabs given after a diagnosis of pernicious anaemia I'm not prepared to experiment with tablets especially when it is even more important to have a functioning immune system at the minute. I'm left with no option but to self inject

My reasoning for badgering them was my dad went for a blood test! I pointed out to them that there's more contact with a blood test and I also offered to stick my arm through the window from outside the surgery. Tears are always a good ploy as well. Just keep on at them

It's hard to hear from my gp that I may not get my injections reinstated even after the pandemic as they are seeing if patients can " manage" on tablets. I've no intention of taking the risk of becoming ill as part of some experiment!
