I finally took the plunge - literally - earlier and injected B12 myself for the first time. I was quite nervous but having had some great advice here, and watching a tutorial on YouTube, I went for it.
I honestly didn't feel a thing when I inserted the needle (outer thigh) and genuinely thought it must have somehow pushed itself back into the syringe. A tiny bit of pressure as I pushed the plunger down and that was it.
So if you're considering SI, it really isn't anything to be scared of.
Gave myself first IM injection yesterday (on loading doses). Worse bit for me was opening the vial after that the jab into thigh was easy. Some videos on YouTube are helpful.
It actually hurt more when the nurse used to do it! I think it's because they used to keep the ampoules in the fridge. And maybe it's less painful injecting the outer thigh rather than the arm 🤔
Well done indeed. Our surgery is refusing B12 injections (on Government orders) for a YEAR. This is so awful. I am so worried. I have two ampoules of B12 here, but no needles etc. So where do you get the needles and everything needed from please. I hope you can help me. Thank you . Briarhillcat
I can message you if you like? Someone on here gave me all the information I needed to order B12 from Germany. I bought some items from Medisave here in the UK too.
I wonder if you would be kind enough to message me with the information you received. I am also going to try self injecting but am very nervous about it. Thank you and well done
Thank you. I cannot get past the receptionist and will not let me speak to a doctor. I am seriously considering self injecting. I have two ampoules here, but obviously will need more, and all the equipment needed. It is even harder because I am a widow and live alone and my family is not near to me. Any help would be appreciated, thank you Littleisland
