Despite my fears and worries this morning went better than expected.
My wife Gill 'phoned the surgery first thing to be told that the appointment would go ahead despite my not having received the usual text confirming and reminding me.
There were just four cars in the surgery's car park - 3 staff and one doctor and I had to knock on a window outside the reception area for permission to go through the door to "sign in"
After sanitising my hands I sat in an empty waiting room until called in.
The nurse was wearing a mask for my safety (she said) and no checks were made on me except for me to volunteer that I'd been in self isolation for three weeks.
As I have cyanocobamalin injections every three weeks I now have now been given enough needles for the next fifteen weeks which hopefully will be enough for when things get back to "normal" but was told more could be made available if necessary.
I'm also fortunate to have enough B12 vials to last until mid September.
This is the first time after forty-eight years with P.A. that I have been "allowed" to self inject, all previous requests to do so having been denied, but perhaps this terrible situation with the Covid-19 has done us a bit of a favour.
I wish all my friends and colleagues on here well for the future in the hope that they all get the treatment they need as I have done today.

Good. I had the same system with a masked and gowned nurse. Akso finally getting s prescription to go fewer times. times . Did she show you how to inject or have you done it yourself before?
Yes tih are right. There will be more sanctions given to self inject. A positive ti come out of a negative.
No - I have never self injected before but this gives my wife an opportunity to "get her own back" on me as I had to give her a couple of dozen "anti-sickness" injections of neupogen during her cancer chemotherapy treatment back in 2007.
I picked up a prescription from my surgery for someone last Wednesday & asked about my 3 monthly which I knew was due.
My Dr knows I SI & where I get ampoules from etc, but said to still get my 3 monthly from them.
The reception said I was over a week overdue & asked me if I wanted my injection there & then. I said it was fine as I'd SI that morning. But asked about getting my prescription in case things got worse with this virus & I could no longer get the ampoules.
She said she would ask & let me know, but told me not to go without at any cost!
There are some good ones out there, depends if you're one of the few lucky ones that get one I guess.
Hi clivealive, so pleased your practice is allowing you to inject yourself. I have asked mine if I can do the same but a resounding no was the answer! Fortunately I already si unbeknown to the doctors as once every 8 weeks is not enough. Considering I’m self isolating as in the vulnerable group, the gp’s expect me to attend the surgery. As I had swine flu 10 years ago I’m not willing to risk going to the surgery. Keep safe and well Clive.
