Over the years I've been told that I have IBS, reflux, possible celiac, damage to the vagus nerve, iron deficiency and low folic acid. I've been on a gluten free diet for nearly 4 years now because I did test positive for the allergy and show all the signs of celiac disease. In November I had another Upper GI and Colonoscopy and was diagnosed with Disaccharidase Deficiency. Which means I have no enzyme's to properly digest carbohydrates, starch, table sugar, beans and lactase. This all makes sense given my symptoms. I have hypoglycemia every day in between meals and can't properly digest my food. The Illness can be hereditary or secondary to another illness. I was diagnosed by a biopsy taken from my small intestines. It's a very stressful be situation to live in. I'm now also on a Low sucrose diet.
Hope this helps someone.

Thank you for sharing! I'm lactose intolerant and I take lactase enzymes every time I have dairy which works wonders for me, but I don't know about the other enzymes. Can you take them orally or what do you need to do moving forward?
Yes I was told that I can take lactaid orally but instead there's a dairy free brand called
Green Valley easily found at Whole Foods. I tolerate that very well and they sell yogurt, cream cheese, sour cream, kefir and even butter. Check it out online then you can locate who has it near you.
I was also told I could take Palatinase, which aides in digestion of beans.
But Sucrase has to come through a prescription which must be approved using prior authorization and medical records. Apparently it's a very expensive drug. But as for now my physician and dietitian have me trying things naturally using diet change until my intestines fully heal. If I don't see improvement I'll try the Sucrase.
