There is little difference between them as they are both converted to cob(II)alamin once they enter the cell. From that point on, they are identical. b12science.com/B12Science/D...
Some people (including me) have a bad reaction to methylcobalamin.
I've tried injecting methylcobalamin once. Quite quickly I just started to feel 'wrong'. It's difficult to describe exactly why I felt wrong. I was agitated, irritable, twitchy. It felt a bit like nicotine withdrawal (but 100 times worse) and a bit like the time I took an antipsychotic (as a volunteer in a trial).
Both of those involve dopamine and I suspect that there may be some interaction between methylcobalamin, dopamine and the enzyme catechol O-methyl transferase (COMT).
