The supplements vary from things like BetterYou's spray which work on a weight:weight dose ratio, ie, 3000IU (75μg) of vitamin D plus 75μg of vitamin K2
to others which have 10,000IU (250μg) of vitamin D plus 100μg of vitamin K2.
The recommendations say not to go above 4000IU or 100mcg of vitamin D (depending on which ones you are reading, they round it up for ease) but if you know you need the higher amount to support you then as it is easy to get 10,000IU (250μg) of vitamin D plus 100μg of vitamin K2 tablets, I'd try these.
They will supply enough K2 to limit calcification of your arteries without giving you so much K2 that it upsets the uptake and metabolism of other vitamins and minerals. This is all said with the caveat that you are not taking anticoagulants as they are antagonistic with K2 and so shouldn't be taken together.
Especially if you are B12d, I think you would be better with a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus extra folate than you would a B-Complex as you will be likely to need many other vitamins and minerals (especially potassium, magnesium and iron) and you don't want to overdo B6 in particular.
Ha ha - I went into an empty Holland and Barrett shop last week, looked at the D3 and K2 spray, saw it was almost a tenner and also fled!
I don't need it in the summer (woohoo something in me works! - even though many of my family have vitamin D deficiency problems!).
I spend many hours with most of me utilising the sun while I'm working in the vineyard when the weather's good but when I'm out there in the winter it's a wholly different thing and the Michelin Man looks svelte by comparison so I need a bit of a boost then.
I looked online and managed to get 4 bottles of spray delivered to me (and I loathe going shopping) for a sensible price so I'm set up for the worst days now.
Hi, if you look at the Lamberts Healthcare website (they are based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, so I hope you are UK based), they have a balance D3 + K2 formula, so there would be no guessing or taking two separate items. They are a small capsule which is easy to swallow. The K2 effectively ensures that the dietary calcium you take in is put in the bones to aid replacement and growth, rather than the calcium floating around in your circulatory system, which you don't want. Hope that helps.
