Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to the site too and just finding out more about this. My question is: Is it safe to fast intermittently with pernicious anemia?

Many thanks

Annie

As safe as it is to fast without it, I would have thought.

I do intermittent water only fasting every day (18/6 with a full 24 once ever 2 weeks). I've also done long water only fasting (21 days up to 28 days water only). When I was doing the long water fasts, I was not supplementing b12 and my b12 levels dropped quickly while long fasting. Long water fasting (two weeks or more) likely drains b12 reserves quickly.

I've been intermittent water fasting for years and have been doing so as I've started and continued my b12d treatment. It's been going fine. My anemia has resolved and my nerve function is very slowly coming back. You'll be fine.

Hi I have never posted before and this is only my experience but I have been IF (intermittently fasting) since July and before that I was on twice weekly injections (self injections) since fasting I have only needed 2 injections since then. I have never felt so clear in my head and also been less tired. Safely say the best decision I have made. Again only my experience and everyone is different.
