I would definitely try and get your vitamin d level increased. The best way is the sun but you may require a loding dose as so low.

20?? You should have been given a high dose vitamin d tablet prescription from your doctor at this level. If not, go back and ask why not?? I'm not 100% sure on this but I'm sure others will know... doesn't the sun just 'activate' the vitamin d you have in your body? I know people who have lived abroad in sunny climes for years and still have low vitamin d requiring supplements.

And yes, your b12 is far too low. It will of course 'be in range' according to your GP practice, but a lot of (good) doctors believe that below 400 is time to treat. Get some b12 sublingual spray or lozenges. 'Better You' is a good brand.

Take care. x

You make vitamin D through your skin via direct sun -that IS the main way. Some low levels of vitamin D is in foods like salmon and eggs but no way near sufficient.

At a level of 20 your GP should indeed have put you on a course of vitamin D treatment. Your level should be over 80, around a 100 is ideal. Definately go back to your GP and request it. After the course your GP should then do another blood test to check your levels.

Low levels of vitamin D can make you prone to infections that last longer, fatigue, aches and pain, non restorative sleep. Also very low leves like yours can cause the body to leach calcium from its bones in compensation which ultimately can cause a bone to break (happened to me) so its vital you get treatment started soon.
