My 6 year old granddaughter who suffered from bad asthma, and horrendous nose bleeds... poor wee soul has missed a lot of school due to these illnesses.. anyway I told her mother to get her bloods checked by GP, especially b12 and ferritin .... GP asked the mother.... “ does she eat VEGTABLES” mother’s response was yes she does... GP says she won’t need her bloods checked then as she’ll get enough b12 from veggies... this it what your up against..

Ignorant GPs
I hear you! and hope your granddaughter finds someone who will do proper testing! I told my mother to get her MMA and homocysteine levels checked as she has suffered from peripheral neuropathy of unknown origin for decades. Her doctor told her that since she is not anemic, there is no need to test. I told my mother to order the test herself, and gave her the info on how to do so here in the US. Frustrating to say the least! My mother probably won't follow through but my father said he would if she fails to do so.
GP is misinformed. B12 only comes from meat, eggs, milk.
Maybe the GP was confused and was thinking about Folate which comes from green vegetables.
If there is an absorption issue in the gut, then eating more will not help.
Tell the GP to read the literature.
Thank God Matt Hancock (Health Secretary) who said "Eat more Broccoli to prevent a B12D" isn't going to be the next PM!
Hope your granddaughter finds a real doctor who knows what they're doing. Good luck.
