Teens first injection

Iv been here asking for advise about my teen daughter who has had 2 years of mood changes fatigue tingling and numbness and burning in hands and feet . Iv been to countless appointments re her having b12 deficiency the same as me . I had to start her on b12 spray due to her symptoms but I continued to fight for her injections even though her intrinsic factor came bk negative . Matter a lengthy meeting with her doctor he has agreed to a therapeutic trial of injections. Starting today . I am astounded once again at their lack of knowledge and feel they only agreed due to my persistence. So I don’t know why I’m worried for her starting . Maybe a part of me is worried for her that this is for life and she’s so young and also that they don’t really believe they will work and are leaving us feeling a bit vulnerable that we are second guessing ourselves . Any advise welcome to reassure us as we want it to go smoothly

What was her level of b12 out of interest?

You know the symptoms as you have them. You know your daughter

I really hope they bring her some relief .

It was 330 in January but I had her on the b12 spray . She’s now starting Wednesday not sure how that’s going to work as she’s to have 3 in one week but at least she will start . She’s such a fine wee thing I suppose im worried how she will be .

So she has been prescribed a loading dose of 6 over 2 weeks of hydroxocobalamin injections then?

At least they have listened to you. Hope it goes well and helps your daughter.

There is every chance of it helping her, hence why you want to try it.

If she has any bad reactions you can stop them but this is unlikely as B12 is extremely safe in most people.

Between the way this condition works and the way the Drs are about the vital treatment so many people need it is inevitable that we end up doubting ourselves!

At least try it and see! With all the doubts, at least you know that any positive effects will be due to it being the right course of action and not placebo effect!! 😁 😁

Go for it! You had similar doubts for yourself and it's helped you!

Well done for all you've achieved - brilliant! xx

Andypandy30 - I think the others are right. Trust your own judgement.

Your daughter will let you know if she's doing well. You'll probably know anyway.

I know that if I'm not sure how I'm doing, or wondering whether what I'm doing makes sense, my partner can tell and will be honest with me.

Let's hope for a clear improvement; that will be a relief for both of you. Sometimes it takes a while so don't be too disappointed. If she reacted well to the B12 spray, that's a good sign don't you think? So it's worth finding out, when all else has reached a dead end.
