painful arms

After at last getting a b12 shot every two weeks I have to admit the tops of my arms where the infections go are so so painful. Enough to wake me up in the night. Does anyone else have this problem. I hate to make another fuss about B12 - and of course worry they might say I should stop!

I self inject in my buttocks for that reason. My arms almost became totally useless when I was getting jabs from the nurse.

Ask if the nurse will inject in your hip or thigh as the muscle is larger.

Better up take from the arm - and advised by pharmacologist

But slow up take is the key! Once it's in your body it isn't going anywhere except by excretion so the slower the release the better so it can be used by your body, rather than just excreted if the amount available exceeds the uptake rate.

That said, you have better blood flow to your thighs so can't see why they should be slower than your arms.

I'm interested in why your pharmacologist says this - they obviously know something special.

Thighs has worked for me! Every day for 4 years.

I know it sounds daft but also make sure the nurse's technique is good and she uses different needles to draw up and then inject.

I self inject into the thigh and was advised by doctor to do so if any help

For those people doubting self injecting... This is why I prefer to do my own jabs!

I subcut in thighs & stomach, rotating. I do it the night before as it takes longer to get in the system but subcut injections are less invasive when you have to inject frequently.

gosh I wouldn't dare question the nurse who gives me the b12 - she is fierce.

Even my but would hurt for a day or two, making it hard to sit or stand. But: not anymore!

The secret? Do you notice that bump that forms after injection? Rub it away after the injection! Then you'll have no pain.

This works for my but and for thighs, so might work for arms as well ;-)
