Magnesium works with VitD. Have not heard of needing it with B12. Most of us have low magnesium but not really worth testing as the range is very narrow. The body manages it well by extracting it from bone when blood levels are low.

Take a look at SeasideSusie's helpful posts on Thyroid UK. She often posts a link to the various types of magnesium. I think it is the Natural News website ! Important to find the right one for you ...

There is no connection at all between B12 and magnesium. If a blood test has shown you are deficient in magnesium then your doctor or pharmacist can recommend supplements. Be warned that many people suffer diarrhoea if they take magnesium supplements.

I take magnesium for an unrelated issue. There are a variety of types some more easily absobed than others - most are fine if you don't have a particular issue, but a dose of 400mg per day is about the maximum for most before I get diarrhoea. I now take Magnesium Glycinate which is more expensive but I can tolerate up to 750mg per day and my nutritionist says it is more easily absorbed too.

I had recently read somewhere that a large number of people don’t get their daily magnesium. I am one of those people. However, my magnesium level is always in range yet when I get a quicker heart rate or am stressed/anxious, twitchy...I always have an epsom salt bath (usually 2-3 times per week) and I feel a lot better. I have difficulty taking even a low dose. My stomach doesn’t seem to like it as much as the baths. I’ve noticed that since finding I was b12 deficient, I was actually low on a few things so I try to keep up on them.
