Hi Leigh6873 if you have P.A. then B12 injections are needed for the rest of your life without any stops or pauses. It doesn't matter how high your levels get - it is completely safe as any excess is excreted via your urine.

Goodnight from the U.K.

With PA injections is for life so doctor shouldn’t be stopping injections.

Also get your Iron and Folate tested as this shouldn’t be low because it works together with B12.

Low Vit D causes depression to get worse so you should be taking tablets especially in winter months.

You should go back to your doctor and ask for injections as low B12 will cause many problems if it’s stopped.

If the part of your gut that was removed included either the top part of the stomach, or the ileum (the bit of the small intestine, just where it joins the large intestine, then you may not be able to absorb B12 and you need injections for life.
