Which country are you in?
In the UK there are no reliable suppliers of methylcobalamin for injecting. But hydroxocobalamin is just as good, if not better. It is easier to source, cheaper and more stable.
I agree with fbirder about Hydroxocobalamin . But if you feel you have to have some in ampoule form , they are obtainable from Australia —
Vitaminb12online.com . They have all the cobalamins. You can buy kits for I.M. and sub-cut injections -The ampoules only provide
.5 mg instead of 1.00 mg .( the usual dose is 1mg) You can also buy just the ampoules which is more economical. £30.00 for 10 ampoules . This includes airmail posting .
Also available from VitaminQuick.com in USA . also with free airmail postage . They supply 1mg ampoules . 10 for €49.00 -20 for $69.00 , -50 for €139.00 and - q100 for €229.00 . TIP— If you put some in your cart and leave them there , they get back to you later and offer 20% discount to complete the sale .
Used to be obtainable from Arnika Apotheke in Munich , but they gave the agency to some beauty clinic in U.K. .and I don’t know where they are . Also available in powder form from Oxford Biosciences ,which has to be reconstituted with saline . But I wouldn’t advise using it , because of having to keep it with such great care owing to contamination possibilities .Ampoules are best -safest .
thanks so so much. I am in Ireland. I want to stay with the Methylcobalamin and just ordered it now from an American website. However I emailed Intravita in the Uk and they confirm they have it in stock and can dispatch the same day as ordered. J
The stuff sold by intravita isn’t for medical use. Also, they don’t store it refrigerated, so it’s almost certainly not methylcobalamin when you get it.
If it’s made by Arnika in Munich , it is certainly Methylcobalamin. They are Bona Fide manufacturing chemists . I know them from when I used to live in Munich . I used it for sometime when I could obtain it directly from Arnika ,until I discovered it was no better for me than Hydroxocobalamin. It can only be sold without prescription in UK if they make no medical claims for it , so they don’t . Please correct me if I’m wrong . I do not know how they store it . It would be in their interests to store it correctly .
You are correct. It is made by a reputable company.
But the director of Intravita said, on this very forum, that they do not store their methylcobalamin refrigerated, whereas every reputable supplier does. healthunlocked.com/pasoc/po...
They can do this because they’re selling a supplement and not a medical product.
But methylcobalamin degrades quite quickly at room temperature. The good news is that most of it will go off to hydroxocobalamin, so it will be just as, if not more, effective.
