Nothing is working

Sorry but I’m not sure where to start, I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency last May, I’ve had my loading injections, level was 89 which the nurse said critical, anyway 6 weeks later I started going down hill again, went to see the GP he asked me if I was depressed, I said you haven’t looked at me since I walked in , you have no right to ask that, I presented him with the NICE guidelines which he shook his head. Another blood test to see if I was hormonal, they can back normal, I have purchased my own injections like everyone else, I’m injecting every other day, I feel no better. My feet/ hands feel numb, I have tingling both sides of my face, and my head just spins.

I did feel better after the initial loading injections, I’m also taking folate every day, multi vitamin with iron, magisium.

Advice on what next to do please, I apologise for my spelling, so sleepy.

Stell, I'm sorry that things are going so badly.

Do you notice any changes with the injections at all? If yes but it goes within 24 hours then you may need to inject more frequently than every other day.

Unfortunately another possibility is that there is something going on. Was the blood test to do with thyroid? and do you know what the results were?

As always an excellent reply... to which I would like to add two other things to consider are how much potassium you are getting as this is needed in abundance for the B12 to work fully and my body doesn't seem to methylate properly and so I have to have methylfolate or some methylcobalamin in addition to my daily hydroxocobalamin injections.

A few people have to take folinic acid instead.

Don't despair - there are other options you can try! I've been there too!

If you took loading doses and then continue once a month you should be getting better slowly, but getting better. If you are not, there is a problem. Make sure if you are giving yourself a shot, you are taking 1ml or 1cc as they are the same.
