When to self inject after loading doses

Hi all,

I eventually have all my bits to start self injecting.

I had my last loading injection Sunday gone (6 over 2 weeks which is all Doctor would agree to even though I have neurological symptoms). I have a blood test booked for 3rd Jan to check folate & ferritin. Currently taking 5mg folic acid.

As I still have symptoms shall I start injecting every other day until they disappear? I had noticed that some has reduced a little (dizziness, tinnitus, mental clarity) but seems they are now just as bad as they were.

Any advice as always is much appreciated.

Thanks :)

Every other day until symptoms stop improving is what the guidelines suggest. I would then say that listening to your body on how frequently after that. You'll also need to keep an eye on your potassium levels and other B vitamins including folic acid. Happy jabbing!

That's what I thought but just wasn't 100% sure. How do I monitor potassium?

Apart from your Dr doing a blood test then no way of monitoring. I posted recently (couple of days ago) about low potassium levels (hypokalemia) and there is some great info in there on how to increase your potassium levels... bananas and coconut water do it for me; both a great source of potassium. Obviously you don't want too much potassium as well as too little. I would also suggest you Google "symptoms of hypokalemia" just so you can keep an eye on any typical symptoms if you're worried. Palpitations is a key symptom to watch out for. Cramping also. Hope this helps

Normal treatment is 1 every other day until symptoms no longer improve. I chose to inject once weekly until symptoms cleared together with Folic Acid 400ug daily.

Worked great, took about 4 months to get back to almost normal.

I tried 1 every other day before and it gave me problems, I believe too much too soon is no good. I noticed improvement every week.

After that I kept diary of symptoms and noticed symptoms return in 3rd week.

So I now SI every 2 weeks.

Once a week doesn’t give u any side effects.

Tried and tested but 1 a week was best, rather than 1 every other day....I would strongly recommended once weekly.

1 banana a day gives u all the potassium u need. It’s natural and better than taking tablets.

Make sure Folic Acid, Iron and Vit D are at good levels....these 3 other than B12 give u similar symptoms.
