PA help please

Hi

I'm new to this site but have been on the Thyroid UK boards for a while.

I was wondering if anyone can have a look at these results for me please.

I first had blood tests done in March 2016 -

B12 285 (180 - 910)

Ferritin 41.4 (10 - 291)

Folate 3.49 (10.4 - 42.4)

I started supplementing with B12 & a B complex & was re tested in September 2016

B12 1295 (180 - 910)

Ferritin not tested

Folate 4.91 (5.4 - 24)

I reduced my dose of B12 and was retested in May 2017

B12 1080 (180 - 910)

Ferritin 39.1 (10 - 291)

Folate 10.84 (>5.4)

I have now started using an oral B12 spray - I have 2 spays of 1200ug a day.

Do these results look ok for PA?

I'm only asking as I am on 2 1/4 grains of NDT & I'm 99% back to myself but I'm still quite tired & I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it as my GP & endo seem to think I have ME/CFS!

Your B12 levels have gone up from well into the normal range to very high, just from oral B12. That strongly suggests that you do not have an absorption problem (therefore, no PA) and that you don't actually need any ab12 supplements at all.

That's good to know, thank you fbirder.

I tried stopping the B12 & I found I wasn't sleeping as well & I was getting night sweats. The B12 seems to help with both of these so I've started taking it again.

Yup, it can't hurt to take them. And whatever makes you feel better is good.
