Hello everyone, I started getting B~12 shots in February and I gained over 50 pounds.

Could it be caused by the B~12??

Someone please let me know something.

Hi 1978gina - silly question - but are you eating more than before your B12 injections?

I've been having B12 injections for P.A. for more than 45 years and I'm still a stone lighter than I was at the age of 17 back in 1959.

I'm not medically trained but there are others on here who will be able to give you good advice.

Yes, I've found that low B12 can affect my weight, through changes in eating habits, caused by psychological changes. But in the opposite direction.

Low B12 makes me depressed. That means I can't be bothered to cook properly and I do lots of comfort snacking.

But depression can depress appetite. When B12 levels go up, depression lifts and appetite returns.

Keep a diary of what you eat, and how much. There are some great apps for this, I use My Fitness Pal. But you really do need to be honest.

weight gain on that scale isn't something I'd associate with B12 - have you also had your thyroid levels checked? it is quite common to have more than one auto-immune condition going on so if your B12 problem was auto-immune you could also have an autoimmune thyroid problem.

Suggest you speak to your GP

I do recall someone (I don't know who) linking thyroid issues with B12, when their B12 levels were corrected - their thyroid issues disappeared.

My appetite has significantly increased since being back on the injections - prior to them, some days - Simon had to practically bribe me to eat something - now he gets his fingers bitten off when he tries to stop me (no - that was a joke) - seriously - My appetite has unfortunately returned (I need to lose about 35kg)
