You need full blood count also check antibodies and IgA and IgG. Itchy condx can be lots of things particularly magnesium, potassium, sodium, vitamin deficiencies. You may find bits of tiny hard material emitted from the itchy points. I presume you mean you have B12 deficiency. you may have gluten antibodies and autoimmune conditions.
Hi susan31 I take it you mean you are taking B12 supplements or injections.
I guess the itching may well be the nerve ending "waking up" as the B12 is repairing the damage to your system. It is not uncommon for some symptoms to appear to get worse before they get better.
Do you know what your Folate (B9) level is as this is essential to process the B12?
I am not a medically qualified person but there are others on here who will be able to give you good advice.
I wish you well
could as clivealive says just be part of the nerves 'waking up' - or it could be an acne type reaction. Sometimes the micro-organisms that live on your skin react to excess B12 by producing toxins and the skin reacts to them - in some cases it can quieten down (as it may have been made worse by the immune system going temporarily into overdrive when you start receiving B12 shots) but for some people it becomes more permanent.
Could you talk to your GP or a pharmacist about it.
How long have you been receiving treatment
Check your salt intake as well. My itchy calves are in direct correlation to adding salt to my food or eating the contents of a ready salted crisps packet when I don't really need to.
