b12 injection and digestion problems

hi all! I am on injections for a few months and I noticed that I have indigestion issues like slow digestion, bloating , … for a while! Its not that I did not have such gastrisis problems before, I had been diagnosed with gastrit few years ago but did not have any particular problem since then! Last year after two months of taking liquid forms of b12 for two months I had a period of indigestion issues!! And then now again!!

I just have a feeling there could be a connection!! Any similar experience here?

Thanks and stay healthy

Try something acidic towards the end of a meal like lemon Lome of cider vinegar. It could be low stomach acid.

I had acid reflux and slow mobility ov food causing bloating.

For me it wax caused by proper 'exhautikn' whrn tour body simply cxn digest properly.

I've no history of anything like this before ill.

For it was for s short period.

Small meals help.

I'm still reliant on regular timing of meals.

Some use prebiotics too .

My daughters was more severe.

She had to change her diet completely.

Used fodmap .

Had sn endoscopy ect but results were 'normal.

She does have POTS and Heds triggered by undiagnosed

Megabolistic anaemia, very low b12, folate snd ferritin. Also low vit D

Hope you find a management plan without too many drastic changes to your diet.

Gluten ,diary , sugar some have to eliminate

Hope helpful

I also have P.A. as did my mother. Unfortunately, her GP told her she needed no more B12 injections as her bloods were fine.

Unfortunately, due to GPs advice, Mother developed stomach cancer and died.

We had to plead for more injections to relieve her pain towards her 'end of life'.

Thanks and it just goes to show how important it is that we have the injections frequently. I now have a monthly jab in place of quarterly.

i am so sorry to hear that! So sad :/ but what was the relation in your mom’s case? I did not understand well

My mother had pernicious anaemia and had quarterly B12 injections i.e. every third month. I have a monthly jab.

There was no harm in every third month jab! Surprising GP stopped it!!! What i am concerned the most is the long- term effects of b12 shots. I am not still diagnosed with PA and because of severe neurological symptomes started self injecting as my GP refused.

People have been on B12 jabs for years and years with no problems like Clivealive.

My mother had Pernicious anaemia and I also have P.A. and I get a monthly B12 injections.

The GP told my mother that she needed no more of her quarterly B12 injections. Unfortunately due to GPs advice the family believe that stomach cancer was due to her B12 injections being stopped.

If someone has pernicious anaemia they usually have a jab every three months.

I used to have B12 quarterly but now have it monthlty and GP said I could get as many jabs I thought I needed.

I found over time that my gastric symptoms (IBS and reflux) and food intolerances have improved after 7 months of EOD injections. It took time.

I guess there is no choice except for managing the symptoms! I wonder if body would adjust itself or no!

I've had similar problems for many years. Originally given pancreatic enzymes until I had an allergic reaction to them. Now take a herbal version of them. Unfortunately private purchase as NHS won't supply them.

The herbal version comes in what forms? I have never heard of!

I was originally prescribed Creon, a form of pancreatin, but stopped taking them after many years due to severe allergy. I tried many, including bromelain or papain from Holland and Barrett, before settling on Source Naturals Daily Essential Enzymes from BigVits on eBay. They're about £28 for 240 capsules and I need 6 to 8 a day, but your needs might be different. It might be worth trying a smaller pot - they come in 60s, 120s, and 240s - to see if they suit you and actually work for you. Also they work with or without acid. I'm unfortunately stuck on PPIs so they're ideal for me.

Someone mentioned probiotics but they made my problems much worse, we're all different.

I start the day with 3 spoons of full organic Greek yoghurt , sprinkled on top with nuts, seeds and sliced strawberries, blueberries or raspberries. Also I take a piece of liquorice during the day( it’s a Dutch thing.😂) it helps my digestive problems.

Great choice!!! I’d try that, liquorice helps with bloating as well?
