Have a look at "BSH Cobalamin and Folate Guidelines"

b-s-h.org.uk/guidelines/ click on box that says "Diagnosis of B12 and Folate Guidelines" should be on page 3 or put "cobalamin and folate guidelines" in the search box.

Some areas of the UK have their own local NHS guidelines for b12 that might differ from the BSH Cobalamin guidelines.

Hi Newberryk it's good to see that you have survived the five that you were so worried about.

How are you feeling now and also were you prescribed folic acid by your doctor?

If you still have symptoms you must mention this to your doctor and he/she may decide to continue the injections a bit longer before putting you on a 3 month maintenance schedule if that is necessary for you.

As to whether another blood test is taken after your sixth injection unless your serum B12 comes back very low it will be pretty meaningless as the injections you've been having will "skew" the result.

Take care now and I wish you well.

Please try to stop worrying about things too much Newberryk as that just "uses up" the B12 - you are on the right road to recovery

I've had P.A. for 45 years and I'm still "clivealive" aged 75.

I wish you well for the future.

a B12 blood test isn't going to provide any useful information immediately after the loading doses - possible that they might want to do a test just before a maintenance shot but that isn't going to mean a lot unless it comes back low.

suggest that you keep a diary of symptoms, in case you aren't already.
