Need some help...

I'm so impatient! My 12 year old had labwork done after his well check up because he's not growing. We had been telling the dr something was wrong for the last two years and finally she saw enough of a decline to order labs and an xray. She called with the results but simply said she was referring us to a pediatric endocrinologist without really explaining why. She mentioned anemia which is odd to me because he takes GNC teen multivitamin for boys that has iron and iodine and a bunch of whatever else he needs in it. Anyone want to interpret these results into kindergarten terms for me to understand? We have a call into a pediatric endocrinologist, but it looks like it will be a week or so before we can get an appointment. Any help is appreciated! will load the other pages in a separate post.

from what I can see the thyroid related results - TSH and T4 are out of range - indicating a problem with thyorid. There are also a few oddities in the full blood count potentially indicative of an iron based deficiency.

Suggest that you repost on TUK forum in relation to the thyroid problem and hope that the referal to the endocrinologist - which is the right call in relation to thyroid - throws up results.

you should be able to refer members over to the posts on this site or you could try reposting on there in full

TSH and T4 - try posting these results to the Thyroid UK forum.

MCV and MCH (Mean Cell Volume and Mean Cell Haemoglobin) are both low. So your son's red blood cells are too small and don't contain enough haemoglobin. Normally one would think this is due to an iron deficiency.

Suggest to the doctor that maybe he should try a different iron supplement. It may be that the stuff he's taking hasn't got enough, or it's not in a suitable form.

No idea about low cholesterol. Sorry.

that was going to be my next question lol. my concern is that he has crohns and that he's nutrient deficient and anemic because of that. Although he has no symptoms it would explain the results, well everything except thyroid :/ They sent us an order for liver function and fecal protectin so i guess we shall see what that tells them. I would have thought they would have ordered his vitamin levels at the same time, i even asked about it, but of course they didnt. So they'll wait for these results then send him to get poked and proded again :-(
