Good Evening Everyone, I had my b12 injection last week but alright feel tired so I bought some b12 spray and have started using it. I'm just wondering whether to get some b12 tablets as well or will I be overdosing???

I've got to somehow keep going as I'm my daughters birth partner in six weeks time. Hopefully things will get better. I've been put on Gabapentin so I don't know whether they are making matters worse or better.

I've been out in the garden today as the weather has been lovely so Ihave had my daily dose of vitamin D. I can't wait to meet my granddaughter, she will be my first and only grandchild

So what do you think spray and tablets or one or the other??????

Bentleyboo - just had a look through your recent posts - did you manage to do anything about your folate levels - unless you do there isn't much point in taking extra B12 as you won't be able to process and use it with folate levels as low as they were per the reports 11 days ago.

There is also a significant overlap in symptoms of thyroid and B12 so have you managed to get the thyroid problem sorted - as it could be that the symptoms aren't actually related to B12 ... or only partially related.

Basically - are you supplementing folate - if not suggest that you start with folic acid. There isn't any harm in taking more B12 but unless your folate has come up your body won't be able to use it.

Make sure that the thyroid is under control again as well as that could be contributing and causing the problems

You could also try different types of B12 - eg if you are supplementing with methyl try hydroxo ... or some adenosyl in addition to the methyl.

Hi Gambit62, thanks for your quick reply. I've started taking 5mg of folic acid that the doc prescribed for me, also he took a copy of my private blood results and put them on my file. He wants me to contact him in 3 months time and he wants me to have some more blood tests then. Also he said he'll do a blood test for thyroid problems then as well. He said hopefully my folate would of improved by then. Fingers crossed ☺

Hi Bentleyboo as Gambit62 says you can't "overdose" on B12 as any excess is excreted in the urine which is a bit of a waste of money if it is not being processed properly by the folate.

An extract from a Dutch research may set your mind at rest about "taking too much B12"

It is very clear this fear of overdosing is based on a misunderstanding. For over 60 years high dose vitamin B12 treatment has been used without any signs of the danger of an overdose.

The Dutch National Health Counsel and the Regional Disciplinary Medical Board of Eindhoven have stated clearly that vitamin B12 is non-toxic

Sorry - just seen your reply to Gambit - good that you are taking Folic Acid - well done.

Hope all goes well with the birth

Thank you Clivealive, I'm hoping things go alright with the birth but my daughters ex is being nasty. She got rid of him because he was very controlling and ruled her every movement. He's been harassing my daughter and now we've had to involve the police. Sorry for the rant, I'm sure it's not doing her or me any good. We can't wait for the birth, I'm back in the garden tomorrow (if the weather is nice). I was thinking of taking some photos and posting them on here. How's your garden doing? ? 😊
