Can someone please tell me where to obtain the Methylcobalamin ampoules which used to be obtainable from Arnika pharmacy in Munich? They have given some firm in the U.K . the agency to sell them . I saw it mentioned here, but can't find the reference. Thanks.

I opened intavita website, it offers infusions at a number of practices.

Not sure what else they actually do.

Hello Wedgewood. ARNIKA have given the sole UK contract to IntraVita Ltd. Telephone 07539 109263 or email nicola@intravita to order.

They sell Methylcobalamin ampoules (and other 'stuff' but I can't remember what). Not currently selling Hydroxocobalamin but apparently may plan to do is in the future.

It's all listed on their website, I think. If not, they will email you a list of products / prices.

Do I work for them? No. Got the information from ARNIKA when I tried to order some Methylcobalamin.

Hope you manage to get what you need. Cheers x

P.s. I also believe they sell adenosylcobalamin and Cyancobalamin ampoules.

Hi

Just phoned Intravita to get a price from them...wow! How much? With postage of £8 a box of 10 ampules is £58 inc vat. This is the same box that cost €33 euros from Arnika in Germany!

Yikes that's a big price hike!

Good luck in finding an affordable source :)

Grief....not good.

Unfortunately ARNIKA no longer sell or ship to the UK...

Looks like a trip to Germany....

in reply toFoggyme

I am hoping to arrange to fly go visit our partner family in Germany at the end of May next year so if I do I will let you know and if you need something I can bring it back for you Foggyme and Wedgewood

As I am supporting their son at a local University I know if I asked him to bring some when he comes back again in the New Year they would refuse payment so I can't really go down that route but if I am arranging it myself then it is a different matter. And we will be coming back by car, so no problem with luggage room - and wine.

That is really kind of you kcbrecks , but I no longer use Methycobalamin now. I use Hydroxocobalamin . I did get in touch with Arnika in Munich , and they would actually supply me because I was an old customer who they supplied before they gave the agency to Intravita . Arnika is only in Munich and that is the only place that you can get the Methylcobalamin ampoules from I believe . I tried to get them at other chemists in Germany whilst I was there once , without success . But that was so kind of you to offer, kcbrecks . So thank you very much !

I wonder if this handing over of the UK sales has anything to do with preparing for our split from Europe. If it is anything like before we joined the customs union then it could be very difficult to get things like hydroxocobalomin from Germany.

Yes , that is something I'm concerned about . It could be disastrous for P.A. patients who need to self-inject ( like myself ) I imagine it would lead to having to pay customs on the ampoules at the very least . But we would have to get round the difficulties somehow . I'm prepared to smuggle and break the law in any way - my well- being depends on it !

in reply towedgewood

There are other considerations than just Duty as the drugs we are dealing with are 'Prescription Only' here and so we will probably find the HMRC will consider them along with any other drugs as contraband. We will have to get a small boat and find a quiet cove away from the Revenue Men to smuggle them in.

Hi kcbrecks. Oh what a kind offer ☺️.

I'm okay for now thanks...get hydroxocobalamin via Germany...but as for the future...well, who knows 😳.

But I expect that th folks here will put their heads together and collectively find a solution, if it becomes necessary 😉.

Again, many thanks to you and good luck with thto getting and staying well 🙃.

I wish I had any faith in the 'folks here' if by that you mean any of the current bunch of wet drawers running things Foggyme. I suspect it is going to be a case of do as best as you can for a long time. I would like to see there being an easing of the restrictions on the over-the-counter purchasing of our various B12 injectables as without that the current freedom to import from other EU countries will end. We will then be in a position where bringing such things back from trips to the continent will be subject to seizure when our bags are checked. Arnika are, to my mind, just getting in early by handing over the agency for Methycobalamin into the UK.

No matter what happens we can be certain the GP's are unlikely to release their strangle hold on the prescribing of the drugs and if they every did it would be amended so that a discusssion with the pharmacist is needed to release them and then only with a certificate of diagnosis. That all means the price will go up. In fact I have noticed the price of hydroxocobalamin had more than doubled from another of the German suppliers since I last looked as the end of September, whereas a 100 ampoule pack was 55 euros they no longer provide so many, just 50, and that pack has increased to 70euros.

Hi kcbrecks. By the folks here, I mean the folks in the forum 😉. As for the rest...well...hmm.

Let’s just hope that lobbying for injectable B12 to be made available over the counter works. Again....hmm.

As for the GP stanglehold...those who 'we' manage to educate are doing better...we just need a lot more of them.

So I guess we'll just keep plugging away, supporting each other...and hope that the B12 well doesn't run dry anytime soon 🙄.

Hmm...

👍

Yes it is . But Arnika have given Intravita the agency for selling Methylcobalamin into the U.K. , so unless you know someone living in Germany who would order it for you , there's no way round it . It is the only Methyl I know of that is supplied in 1 ml ampoules.
