I have been doing daily subcutaneous injections for about 10 days now and just noticed a red mark from this morning's injection. It does not feel warm to touch but is approx. 2 x 1cms. Has anyone else experienced this? I have taken care to clean the bottle prior to injections and it has not happened before.
Methylcobalamin : I have been doing... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Methylcobalamin
Occasionally you can hit a blood vessel when injection (either IM or subc) and blood will disperse under the skin causing a bruise about the size of a penny. It should turn brown and then yellow and go away in a couple of weeks. Anything larger please see your Dr.
I have experienced the same on quite a few occasions and never had any negative effects. I have put it down to a slight leakage of methylcobabalim into the skin - but as I say never had a detrimental effect & seems to go within 24 hrs.

Many thanks. It has totally vanished this morning. I do believe it probably was the methylcobalamin I was seeing due to the vibrancy of the mark. It has left no bruising.
Glad the problem resolved itself.
Wouldn't say that have quite had the same but there are times when I can feel as see the cobalamin just under the skin - more as a bump than a discolouration ... and some will occasionally oose back out just after I have withdrawn the needle.
Hope the regime is working and you are feeling better
