If you are UK based the most common sites to use for B12 are goldpharma and mycare.de

The injections given by GP are 1mg =1000mcg hydroxocobalamin. These can be purchased in boxes of varying sizes - though generally 10. You can get a range of concentrations and they are produced by different manufacturers - at least 2 - I used rotexdoxmedica.

mycare.de/online-kaufen/b12...

and this is the other main brand

mycare.de/online-kaufen/vit...

Have you tried other forms of supplementation - eg sublinguals or nasal sprays - it may be worth trying these first if you are feeling all at sea on the injection front. I use detoxpeople for my non-injectable B12 - generally nasal spray/drops - they do a range in different formats (hydroxo, methyl, adenosyl so plenty of choice

Hi Gambit62, thanks very much for the reply & the links, that's a great help. Yes I am UK Based. I have actually ordered this afternoon from versandApo.de (Online Pharmacy) after I read a link earlier. I have ordered - VITAMIN B12 Hevert forte Injekt Ampullen Ampoule, 10X ?

This may sound a really a daft question but: are the needles already attached etc/ready for use?

I haven't tried the sublinguals or nasal sprays no, I will also look into those & again.....thanks for the link too :)

You will need to buy needles separately - most people use medisave

medisave.co.uk/

You can either buy insulin needles and inject subcutaneously rather than intramuscular or you will need to look through posts for details of needles to use for intramuscular (and try and find someone to show you how to do it). I'd recommend starting with subcutaneous. It isn't as efficient as intramuscular - probably - but the length of time it should last shouldn't be that much different.

Hi, thank you for the info & link. Have watched a couple of videos on how to inject safely.....I'm a little nervous to say the least! I'm also going to take Sleepyheads advice & try my Doctors once again but am not hopeful & can't imagine them supporting my decision to go it alone! But after years & years of suffering with Depression (NO medication/tratment has ever worked including ECT) Fibromyalgia, CFS, Oesophagitis/Gastro, Prolapsed neck & spine discs and a major Heart Attack/cardiac arrests all before the age of just 40!! I was told 15yrs ago that I had parietal cells positive to antibodies, when I queried this (as no one else seemed phased by it) I was told it was nothing to worry about & that it may eventually just lead to pernicious anemia. In desperation I did alot of research into Vitamin B12 Deficiency years ago & pleaded with my Doctor to at least just try the injection but was told unless my results were significantly under then they were not allowed to give it to me. I also had a pulmonary embolism whilst in the ICU so had full blood works after this but am wondering if they actually test homocysteine levels. Do you have the support of your GP? Has using Vitamin B12 helped you? Sorry for the essay :/ & thanks again for your advice.

Shelly.

Gave up on my GP when he just wanted to push anti-depressants on me - he wasn't harsh at all - but just totally unaware of B12. I started treating myself using a nasal spray that I'd been using to help a bit whilst an order for ampoules came through ... but it worked so well that nasal spray is my primary source and injections are fall back. I went from struggling to walk and having to feel to make sure that the chair was behind me as I sat down to being quite confident at the top of a ladder pruning grape-vine in the space of a few weeks ... and 3 months later I realised that the depression had gone, which having had that for 4 decades I really wasn't expecting.

I was told I was B12 in hospital after a fall in which I broke my ankle so badly it had to be pinned - consultant - admittedly a bone specialist - didn't really seem to know much about it and the only thing I got from quiz around medical students etc was irregular bowel movements! So finding out what it meant took another 12 months followed by 3 hoping GP might be some use but he wasn't.

Really haven't regretted treating myself - feel in control of situation rather than at the mercy of medics ... and still learning but for me it was like getting a life after 50 years of existence.

Thanks Gambit62, your reply has left me feeling hopeful!!! :) After advice received today, I am waiting on a call from my GP so that I can request all my blood test results & readings over the past 3yrs. I think that itself will go down like a lead baloon so wish me luck. Will then go on from there with some support, hopefully. Thank you for taking the time out to reply to my message & for all your helpful advice :)

Kind Regards.

Shelly.

I started using a hydroxocobalamin spray produced by Yuliv - purchased from a supplier called detox people. They have a wide range of B12 products.

Hi Gambit, could you tell me which strength nasal spray you use, I see on detox site there are a few. Thank you.

Jenkinsaj, I use both - 500mcg for hydroxo and 2500mcg for methyl - but usually only take one dose fo the methyl rather than the 2 that would give the full dose
