Making process/Small Wins

Very happy to have heard back from Dr. C about my bro. Dr. recommended increasing his B1 to 4000mg per day. (He’s been 3000mg per day for 4 wks now ). I see difference in his over wellbeing ie; clearer thinking, memory, seems more stable, more motivated to take walks alone and then do “movement” exercises with me.

Today we played 🏓 ping pong/table tennis for eye/hand coordination and overall movement and he did FANTASTIC ‼️ I was shocked. He probably hasn’t played ping pong in over 50 years.

I’m posting this to give hope out there to others on this journey. Stay hopeful !!!

Congratulations. Its amazing to see improvement isn't it?

Good luck with continued improvement

Take care that such a large dose of Vitamin B1 does not cause a Vitamin B imbalance leading to deficiencies in other B Vitamins and subsequent problems.

Imbalance of Other B Vitamins

The B vitamins all work together in a complex. Taking too much of a single B vitamin, such as vitamin B1, can cause an imbalance in the other B vitamins. In severe cases, the imbalance may cause deficiencies in the other B vitamins, which can cause a wide variety of symptoms. Deficiencies in several of the other B vitamins, such as B3, B6 and B12, can cause feelings of fatigue and tiredness, along with skin irritations and rashes. Deficiencies in B6 and B12 can lead to anemia, causing very pale skin and muscle weakness. Vitamin B12 deficiencies can also cause neurological symptoms, including numbness or tingling in the hands or feet.

It is also possible o overdose on Vitamin B1:

Thiamine Overdose

Overdosing on thiamine, or vitamin B-1, is rare but can cause severe symptoms. Mild symptoms of an overdose include weakness and a headache, the American Pregnancy Association reports. In some cases, high vitamin B-1 levels can cause a rapid, irregular heart beat and low blood pressure. These symptoms can lead to cardiac problems. Some patients will develop a low blood pressure and convulsions.

Thanks for your comments.

Is there any medication in this world without side effects? We have to perform weighing between its benefits and risks which in Thiamine case in my opinion is 100 (benefits)to 1 (risk).

I hope that your assessment is beneficial for your brother.

Thank you for that. I will be aware. We are currently taking a multi vit/min tablet, plus extra B12 n Folate. I’m sure my bro was malnourished when he moved here 10 months ago, so I’m just trying to get his general health back.

I wrote to Dr Constantine last night and received his reply this morning. As his advice, I am about to start B1 treatment now. May I ask how old is your brother and how long he has been diagnosed with PD? I m 62 and been diagnosed for 4 years now.

My brother is 68. He’s been on C/L for about 3 yrs now, but tremor in rt hand started about 15 yrs ago he noticed while welding. He was a union iron worker which increased his levels of toxic metal gases. Plus multi head injuries and addictions his whole adult life. He has been with us 10 months now and I immediately changed his diet and got him off all but essential medications, started him on general vitamins n mineral, hydration and walking exercise. He’s been on B1 for 4 wks and we can tell the difference in his mental clarity.

Hope this helps. God bless

What symptoms did your brother present with that made Dr C increase his dose just after 4 weeks ? Any thoughts ? Thanks

I started my bro on 1gram myself after researching B1 n Dr. C. I already had him on vitamin/mineral n oils supplements as I already had a feeling of malnutrition being a factor in general. So after a wk I increased it to 3000mg/3grams and I wrote to Dr. C to ask for guidance. He got bk to me n increased it to 4000mg/4grams per day. It’s been about 2wks now n we’re just trying to stay the course n do more movement exercises. I can tell the diff with his thinking more clearer and he is feeling better n more motivated to move more. Good luck.

Sorry. To your original question. He’s had rt hand forearm tremors for at least 4-5 yrs. been on C/L for at least 3 yrs. so there was no increase of symptoms to increase B1.

Ping pong is excellent therapy. It’s also an objective measure of improvement 3 days of Thiamine improved my game. Try playing with alternating hands an keep the strokes as open shouldered as possible
