Anyone tried using Creatine ?

I am not medically trained . So do not undertake any of my suggestions without consulting your doctor or PD nurse.

As running and general fitness is the main reason for my always " looking for help and assistance" I came across Creatine. It's useful in maintaining muscle strength in sports and also has been trialed for PWP. The Parkinson's trial was non committal in its results and was closed down. But it is extensively used in sport. So I am giving it a try !! I am currently in training for an off road duathalon so I will let you know if it is beneficial . Mike

An off road duathalon consists of a 5 km run followed by 20 km bike ride and finishing with another 3 km run . On forestry commission land or similar. For me it's at Sherwood Pines near Nottingham on 04/11/2017. Check out the 2016 video.

As I promised a bit of a update. Wednesday is always my day with my sports physio. Well today after 1 hour she said "Mike you are in better shape than that i have seen you all year".

Do not drink any caffeinated beverages while using creatine.

Caffeine and progression of Parkinson’s disease: A deleterious interaction with creatine

"These data indicate a potentially

deleterious interaction between caffeine and creatine with respect to the rate of progression of PD."

But you should use CoQ10 while taking creatine:

The effect of creatine and coenzyme q10 combination therapy on mild cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease.

"Combination therapy with creatine and CoQ10 could delay the decline of cognitive function in PD-MCI patients and could lower their plasma PL levels; therefore, this combination therapy may have a neuroprotective function."

An update. I have never experienced anything like this before. 2 hours of intensive exercise and no aches and pains anywhere. My physio contemplating try it herself . She's a Tri Star .
