I'm considering get a vibration plate to help me improve balance and to strengthen my core and legs. I have a fall mostly two or three times a week usually while moving or trying to initiate my gait. My balance had worsened recently along with my lower back pain due to spinal stenosis and scoliosis and I want to hold a possible back surgery by now. My concern is about the balance needed to keep standing in the plate, I mean if I can make it. I have seen few videos of people using it and I believe it's doable to me considering it comes with a remote speed control to choose easy to advance training programs and my most balance issue is while moving (I can hold a steady position without major problem). I will appreciate some feedback from any PD users.
This product is highly recommended by Dr Terry Wahls. She states it's very good to growing muscle mass, improving bone density and to improve the connection between the brain and the muscles and that it's an excellent device for rehabilitation due to a neuro degenerative problem like PD and MS.
In my opinion this therapy is also related to the research done by Dr Jean Martin Charcot that led to the rediscovery of vibration therapy like the vibrating gloves ( Dr Tass - Stanford University ) and the CUE-1 ( Charco Neurotech).

I purchased a vibration plate by Lifepro for the same reasons. When my legs get stiff, it helps to sit on a chair and put my legs on the vibration plate. I also have stenosis and back and hip arthritis. My back pain seems to get worse after I stand on the plate, even at the lowest level, so I have been discouraged. However many people with similar issues on the Lifepro Facebook page report excellent results . I haven’t given up yet. Just taking a break. It may work for you.
Irene Tracey facebook page, Helping people with Parkinsons is a godsend, my hubby has parkinsons and we use the Smovey rings for massage om back, legs and he also follows Irene"s dailu excercise routine. These are vibrating rings which are sending vibrations through yput body when swinging them worth a look at her face book page.We are also awaiting delivery of the cue1, excited to srart this now .
just saw your reply as we’ve been away on holiday. We have the Smovey rings as well and use them for exercising.
In August this year my HWP got the Cue1 and has found it really helps with walking correctly without him having to make a conscious effort. He left off using it for a few days, due to a slight technical issue, now resolved and he definitely noticed the difference. Also has a red light hat and apart from holidays, has used it on a daily basis.
My hubby has had his Cue 1 for 3 weeks now we are seeing a difference in his tremors and sleep pattern so far and looking forward to any other changes. We have had positive dealings with Charco especially Lucy and cannot thank them enough for their hard work, dedication and compassion for the Parkinsons community and families.
Been using plate vibration for several years helps with muscle stiffness also you can use in a press up position......wouldnt be without it......get one with support bars if you can as below
I love my Vibration plate. The brand I bought was LifePro which is a good company too. On days when I cannot balance i just pull up a chair and put your feet on it and let the machine do the work for you. It makes my legs stronger and helps with circulation which is really great. You can also sit on it or put your hands on it to get an upper body workout.. If you have any concerns please talk to your doctor first about it.
I have a vibration plate machine. All of the comments above are very good. I use mine, intermittently -- when i have cramping in my feet or legs... works like MAGIC to relieve the cramping and pain. Best of luck!
i don't have curling toes... and i've only had 3 or 4 ... EMERGENCIES ... with such severe low leg or foot cramping but the vibration plate machine SAVED MY A** !
Hi Marnegro regarding vibration plate therapy for parkinson's disease. I will never be the brightest bulb on the tree. I do believe that vibration therapy could play a part in PD treatment. If alpha synclein accretion is a central PD issue, could vibrational therapy help to reduce these deposits. I know this is a long shot. All the smartest people on the planet haven't found a cure. If you have read my posts, you can see I've been a strong advocate for TASIGNA, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Georgetown University has performed two FDA trials with TASIGNAthe generic equivalent is Nilotinib . I was on TASIGNA two different times with very positive results. I'm looking for a doctor who would be willing to prescribe this off label for me 200 mg once daily. I will sign any hold harmless agreement with any doctor who will write a prescription for me. I'm in my 18th year with this dreadful disease. I have a really good idea where I will be in another five years. Parkinson's disease is throwing a no hitter perfect game. Why not give me a chance to break it up.
Read up on Georgetown's latest beliefs that vascular insufficiency may be the cause. That's why I propose to include Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) as adjunctive therapy and perhaps vibrational therapy too.
Conventional wisdom is not working. I'm willing to step out of the box.
I use vibrating plates. If you're concerned about falling you can always put it behind the chair and hold on , or sit down and put your feet on it. Not sure what brand my husband got.It is supposed to help bone density and muscle strength. Haven't used it for very long. My chiropractor swears by them. Hope you have success with yours. Good luck
You might try sitting and just putting your feet on the vibration plate if you're having difficulty standing. It's very good for osteoporosis and lymphatic drainage. My chiropractor highly recommends them.
