I started a low dose regime of ibogaine a few days ago and the results are remarkable in just a few days. My neurologist is aware that I am doing this and was supportive. I was wondering if anyone else is trying it (or has tried it). I was hoping to compare notes. I am taking two 20 mg doses per day (approximate because of the difficulties in accurately measuring such a small dose). I am currently using ibogaine HCL but plan on switching to the plant extract when that runs out.
Anyone else trying ibogaine?: I started a... - Cure Parkinson's
Anyone else trying ibogaine?
What are your results?
I was hoping to compare notes with someone else who was trying ibogaine but here goes:
Tremors have steadily been diminishing. Steady decrease in shoulder and neck tension. Arms now swing naturally. Big improvement in speech. A "spring" in my step. Regaining sense of smell. Toe curling almost gone. Feeling of being in a fog is gone. Daily improvement in energy.
These improvements have been getting better every day so far.
Well, this is amazing. As you were saying you are going to wait and see if it's going to last. I hope it does.
Where do you get this item?
You can find suppliers with a google search.
I tried Google and got this warning: clearskyibogaine.com/ibogai...
there are many fakes on line.
If you don't mind please share your choice. thank you.
This is another residential addiction treatment center. At these places they administer a "flood" dose of several hundred mgs. I am following a low dose regime of only 20mg twice a day.
What dosage do you plan on taking? For how long? What form of ibogaine do you intend to use? You should be able to answer these questions before you worry about where you can get a supply.
Googling produces reliable vendors when you are prepared to place an order.
wow this is incredible!! i only recently discovered ibogaine... congrats! i know its been a few years now... how are you doing now?
It’s an actual miracle that ibogaine is incredible break through not just for Parkinson’s but several different diseases. We’ve been treating peopleHere in Cancun for the last year as we just opened up an ibogaine clinic . I would definitely recommend it to anyone suffering from this disease
Wow, what does a treatment look like for folks with PD at your clinic? What results have you seen?
How long do you recommend being off sinemet and Azilect prior to and after treatment? Thanks
please tell what it is
There is much information out there and ibogaine seems very promising.
link.springer.com/content/p...
Thank you !! How long do you have Parkinson and which conventional Medics do you take ?? Do you live in the UK ??
Where did you buy it from...I looked but didn’t have much luck
You either did not look or you don't want to accept the results. I am confident your search came up with suppliers.
Ibogaine is available via prescription in Australia. It will be much easier to procure there than in repressive places.
How did you get started with this? Where do you get the ibogaine? Are you in the USA? Thanks and congratulations!
I found it while researching neurogenesis and neuroplasticity.
Hi. I just found your post. It's very interesting and promising. How is it going?
Hi, Where do you buy ibogaine ?
It hasn’t got a very good write up on a couple of sites
Did anybody discover a reliable site to buy it from..??
Thanks for sharing your experience, however it will be more beneficial if you can share the source and dose of Ibogaine. The reason is that it's very dangerous substance and can be lethal if not taken properly. According to Wikimedia
"Its use has been associated with serious side effects and death.[2] It is used as an alternative medicine treatment for drug addiction in some countries. Its prohibition in other countries has slowed scientific research."
Most of the literature mentioned it as a treatment for those who are addicted to drugs especially heroine. According to Wikipedia
"In 1981 an unnamed European manufacturer produced 44 kg of iboga extract. The entire stock was purchased by Carl Waltenburg, who distributed it under the name "Indra extract" and used it in 1982 to treat heroin addicts in Christiania, Denmark, a squatter village where heroin addiction was widespread.[53] Indra extract was available for sale over the Internet until 2006, when the Indra web presence disappeared. Various products are currently sold in a number of countries as "Indra extract", but it is unclear if any of them are derived from Waltenburg's original stock. Ibogaine and related indole compounds are susceptible to oxidation over time."
The link provided above mentioned it as follows
"Increasing brain levels of neurotrophic factors may also be feasible by indirect means. Smaller molecules may upregulate trophic factor expression or release. Ibogaine, an alkaloid extracted from the root of the African shrub Tabernanthe iboga, and used to treat alcohol addiction, increases the expression of GDNF in the midbrain.74 Likewise, antidepressants increase the expression of BDNF in the rat hippocampus. "
Therefore I request to share the particulars of the specific source you used.
I shared the dosing I am using in the very first post. I am currently taking approximately 20 mg of ibogaine HCL twice a day together with a B vitamin complex that approximates the B vitamins in this patent for an ibogaine medication for treating PD:
patents.google.com/patent/U...
The dose for treating addictions is known as a "flood" dose and is in the range of hundreds of milligrams not tens of milligrams. The abuse dosages are also in the hundreds of mg range. Micro-dosing is far different. I can tell you that I experience no inebriation at the dosage I am using.
As far as sourcing goes, a google search readily provides reliable suppliers.
I wish to close this by saying that I made my original post looking for someone I could compare notes with. I am not advocating ibogaine for anyone else. I do not wish to debate this with people who are not willing to do the research.
Thanks for explaining. I trust your feedback. I asked the above only to clarify things, as I found very little information on the Web regarding ibogaine use in PD. Also I found following two suppliers and was eager to know whether they are legitimate
genesisibogainecenter.com/g...
and
libertyroot.net/ibogaine-an...
Anyways thanks for your detailed response and keep sharing your experience with us (not only for comparison and benchmarking , but also for knowledge sharing purposes )
I looked at your first link but cannot open the second link. In any event, the first link is not a "supplier" per se. It appears to be someone who is selling a course of addiction treatments which means the "flood" dosing I mentioned. I would not be interested in this as I am pursuing a course of micro-dosing.
Look for a supplier who supplies the raw plant material, plant extract, or ibogaine HCL only, not an on-site residential experience. Best wishes.
Wish I could compare notes Danfitz but the sites I've found are charging far too much to make the substance feasible as a long term treatment sadly.
I wish you could too. It is outrageous that a simple, common plant material costs so much. This is the result of the misguided "war on drugs" prosecuted by the US.
The literature on ibogaine suggests that it "resets" the adrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine systems in the brain. There is a disagreement about whether the dopamine producing cells in the substantia nigra die or go dormant. Most seem to think they die, but a minority think they simply have gone dormant. I am hoping they are dormant and ibogaine provides a wake-up call.
If it is dormancy and not death, a long term treatment is not required. The course only needs to be pursued until reset. BTW this is the method used by the ibogaine addiction residential treatment centers. They only use a "flood" dose to reset and that is it. Sometimes multiple "flood" doses but not the micro-dose I use for PD.
Best wishes.
I just ordered some for my father who has late stage pd. He cant walk and has small hallucinations.
I tried every supplement to no avail.
Will try this lets hope for a miracle
Best wishes. What type of ibogaine are you going to use and at what dosage?
I just ordered the iworld Capsules 35 x 300 mg from ibogaworld. Oh stupid me i just realised its 300 mg and not 30 mg. I suppose 300 mg is too much right ?
No. It is not too much because the capsules are powdered plant material and not an extract or pure ibogaine HCL. I don't know what percentage of ibogaine is contained in the raw plant material.
Iworld should be able to tell you what percentage of ibogaine exists in the plant material. Then you can calculate the number of capsules to yield the desired dose. For example, if a capsule contains 300 mg and is 5% ibogaine then one capsule contains 15 mg of ibogaine.
this makes sense since 1g cost more than 200 usd. i paid 65 usd for 35x300mg.
i also read the reviews on ibogaworld for the capsules and it seems that people also use it for depression.
well i will start with one capsule a day and see if there is any noticeable change and go from there
Out of curiosity I looked to see what I could find out about the amount of ibogaine that is contained in the unprocessed plant material. The quantity is exceedingly low:
ibogaine.mindvox.com/articl...
Hello Danfitz,
Any advantage to starting with unprocessed plant material vs HCL?
Be well,
Thia
You wrote: "I was hoping to compare notes with someone else who was trying ibogaine".
It is better to compare "apple to apple". What do we compare if I use different brand and have zero result?
I am considering to buy ibogaworld.com/shop/product...
I am taking low dose naltrexone now for 5 yrs. Sounds similar as high doses are used for heroine addiction.
I've been taking LDN for almost a year but don't see any results. Is it helping you? I don't know whether to continue taking it or give it up.
Thanks for sharing.
Well I was wondering the same so I stopped taking it after about 3 yrs. I started to shake more. So went right back on it!
I have been on it for about 3 years. You can always stop taking it and see what happens. When I forget to take it in couple days I get more pain. At first I didn't think it did anything for pain but I think it does. I definitely feel better when I do take it.
I tried Ibogaine for a few weeks and found it beneficial, but the effects didn't last when I stopped using it. I found the effect similar to being on a low-dose of Psilocybin. Of course I think taking a natural, plant-based drug is better than a pharmaceutical one, but I wish I didn't need to take a substance to feel better.
I used the extract , around 20 mg once a day. Keep in touch with your process! Best wishes for recovery .
I recently read about the benefits of hi dosage 4 g a day of Vitamin B1. I'm going to give that a try !
I was wondering what, if any, effect the B1 has had. TIA
Still not decided! Obviously its not a cure all. I'm still struggling with my symptoms. Some days I feel really good and other days pretty lousy . The difficult thing with any of the supplements is I don't know how I would feel if I hadn't taken it the past month. I'm going to give it a few more weeks, take a break from it, and see if I notice a difference. How are you doing with the ibogaine?
I will. It's supposedly takes about six weeks to see results, but it sounds promising . I'll let you know! Good luck
I spoke to an expert in ibogaine use and he said it wasn’t safe to take with Sinemet. Even microdosing. Maybe I will try it after all.
I took ibogaine for nearly one month about a year ago. I didn't feel much from my 10 mg twice a day dosage. I stopped when I began seeing visual trails, which worried me. I do know two guys who take ibogaine for the last 2 to 3 years and say it works great for them. One of them says he sees the trails too, but is not bothered by them. The guy that I got the ibogaine from said that seeing the trails means is starting to work. Having previous issues with my eyes including cataracts was enough to make me stop.
Soon after that time I began taking levadopa and Thiamine HCl, without any negative effects. It does appear to have a good effect but nothing close to feeling normal (pre PD) for me.
Can you please tell us about some reliable source of purchasing ibogaine from?
As far as I am aware, you cannot purchase it anywhere in the states. You have to go to Mexico or Canada. As of a year ago, I was told that I was the fifth person to try ibogaine for PD. I will be curious to see the results and feedback for more people trying it.
Trevor at Liberty Root in Vancouver, BC is a reliable guy to get in contact with.
An update:
I am still experiencing positive results from ibogaine. No toe curling. Just an occasional tremor, with one exception. I had a violent tremor that lasted about 2 hours two days ago. It almost drove me back to sinemet. I am currently experiencing a bout of influenza but think it actually may be withdrawal symptoms from stopping sinemet.
Another update:
My flu is over. I went back to taking simemet while I am trying the ibogaine. I still suspect the "flu" may have been withdrawal symptoms from abruptly discontinuing the sinemet. I had planned on reducing the sinemet more gradually and have gone back to that plan. In the meantime, I am still experiencing the positive results I mentioned in my first post. If anyone else has tried ibogaine or starts it please let me know how it goes. I am trying this for 180 days.
Thanks for your update. Did you start that 180 days ago?or planning to continue for 180 days?On a scale of 0-10 how much was your general condition score before starting Ibogaine and how much is now? 0 worst and 10 best.
I started two weeks ago. Scoring is difficult. I don't know what 10 represents. Is it as bad as I have experienced or is it as bad as I think it might be? All I know is that I no longer experience toe curling, my tremor is greatly reduced, the stiffness in my neck and shoulders is greatly reduced, my feet don't feel so leaden when I walk, and my sense of smell has been returning.
Thank you. Dose it make you sleepy , dizzy or drowsy? Dose it make you feel high? How about its effects on your mood?
Does anyone know why famous people like Michael J. Fox for PD or other celebrities with different kinds of addictions don’t use Ibogaine? Or at least we havenot heard of.
Probably because ibogaine is a Schedule 1 drug.
danfitz,
My PD symptoms first showed up in 2008. I started on Sinemet shortly after that and responded very well to the drug. To make a long story short, I am now taking a fairly large dose of levodopa daily, with about half of it from mucuna pruriens capsules (I also take GABA with each dose). Last year I started showing more dyskinesia and decided to research ibogaine, which I had read about but not done anything about.
I obtained a small quantity of ibogaine hcl and last November started taking 20mg daily. In December I quit the ibogaine for a few weeks until I got over a nasty virus. I had read a drug interaction warning about ibogaine and dextromethorphan, ingredient in otc cough syrup. Then I resumed taking it until March when I ran out.
The positive results were mostly a clearing of the 'brain fog' and a much higher energy level. My gross motor symptoms had always been in good control (most people couldn't tell I have PD), but I experienced a bit of improvement in what tremors and dyskinesia I had. I'm hoping to get some more ibogaine and continue my treatment.
Thanks for posting your experience with the ibogaine. BTW is the vitamin B complex you take just an otc like you can get at WalMart?
ET
I don’t know what B complexes are available at Walmart but it would not surprise me if they carried it. I just picked a complex that mirrors the b complex in the patent.
Also, I am taking slightly less than 50% of the sinemet that I was taking before.
danfitz,
I wonder about cutting back on the levodopa. The neurology people kind of put the fear of god into you about cutting back or quitting levodopa treatments. I would love to cut back on the levodopa, at least the pharmaceutical. I suspect that I need a larger dose of ibogaine, probably 40mg/day or double what I've been taking. It is expensive though, but life tends to be worth much less when constantly dealing with the symptoms.
After a few days on ibogaine I cut out levodopa completely and then got sick. I think it was influenza but from what I have read it could have been withdrawal symptoms from sinemet. So I am back on sinemet at less than 50% of my previous dose.
I have the support of my neurologist so I have been reporting my experience.
It seems important to me to reduce or eliminate levodopa entirely. The reason for that is that I believe by ingesting sinemet we are disrupting whatever feedback mechanism that exists in body to tell the brain to produce or distribute dopamine. If the body is getting the dopamine it needs from sinemet then the feedback is muffled or eliminated.
There is a debate over whether the dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra have died or are dormant in PD. The effect of ibogaine is believed to be, at least in part, the revival of dormant cells and/or the neurogenesis of new cells. It is believed to do this by increasing the amount of GDNF in the brain. So this is why I want to eliminate sinemet, to remove the potential interference in the feedback mechanism that sinemet must interfere with. Also, sinemet metabolites are known to be toxic.
I am giving this a 180 day trial and I am only 3 weeks into it but am quite happy with the results so far.
Yes, while this is not the worst condition to have it certainly is a burden that I would not wish on anyone.
I couldn't agree more!!
Has anyone seen a functional medicine practitioner? They don't prescribe meds to mask symptoms, they get down to the root of the problem and prescribe the right protocol for the particular individual with PD.
I have been following Dr. Hyman and strongly believe the body can heal itself with proper diet and natural remedies.
I do not believe in conventional medicine, it does more harm than good. Integrative and functional medicine is what patients turn to now.
for how long have you been following Dr. Hyman protocol and how much have you been recovered?
I would like to know more about drug interactions, specifically tramadol and gaba pentin with ibogaine. Thanks.
I have heard of the theory that dopamine therapy inhibits any natural production of dopamine. I guess this is why it has been a common practice to start off with the dopamine agonists to try and stimulate natural dopamine production. From what I have read, however, the dopamine agonists tend to have some nasty side effects and I suspect are not all that effective.
When my symptoms began I had pretty severe tremors and was basically dysfunctional, so when I started the sinemet it was like a godsend. I could function normally again. I was in no position to be choosy with other untested ideas. One thing I have tried with some good results is a ketogenic diet. If you have researched PD you have probably run in to this idea. There is little hard research about it but lot's of anecdotal evidence and case histories.
All this begs the question of what started the PC process to begin with, and what is keeping it going. I guess the hope is that the ibogaine will induce generation of dopaminergic neurons and an increased level of natural dopamine production and maybe start a positive feedback that is healing instead of destructive. But I've probably had at least 12 years of degeneration to deal with given that as much as 80% of the dopamine producing cells can be atrophied before symptoms show up. So I expect I'll be taking some kind of medication for the rest of my life.
It's great that this is working for you so far. Best of luck and keep us informed.
ET
Why are you going to switch to TA instead of HCL? I would think that the HCL would have a more pronounced effect and be more reliably dosed.
I can ingest the same amount of ibogaine by taking a larger amount of TA. It will be easier to measure the dose. 20 milligrams is very hard to accurately measure. A larger amount of material will be easier to measure. And I suspect the whole plant extract may contain additional alkaloids that may enhance or potentiate ibogaine is the same manner as cannabis has additional compounds that potentiate THC and CBD.
It does no harm to try it and I still get the same amount of ibogaine in the end.
Danfitz,
What amount of TA did you find to be equal to the 20 mg of HCL? Is TA what you’ve been taking since posting the message I’m replying to now?
Many thanks
Did you resume taking ibogaine?
Yes, I resumed taking ibogaine around the first of May. I'm taking 20mg twice daily and the results are good, better than before. I'm not sure why the ibogaine HCL I have now seems more potent that what I had before. It may be more pure, or could be just the cumulative effect (more neurons), or, another possibility is that when I am dosing it out into capsules, I'm using some Voacanga Africana as a filler. The VA is closely related to iboga and has similar alkaloids (including a tiny amount of ibogaine).
Anyway, the dyskinesia that I was beginning to experience is gone and I have a much higher energy level. I decided to try cutting back on my sinemet. I was taking 1 1/2 tabs of 25/100 carbidopa/levodopa 5 times a day and I cut out the half tab. This lowered my overall levodopa (including what I get from the mucuna) by about 16%. So far it is working well, with only a little tremor in my right foot a few times a day.
I have my fingers crossed hoping that this improvement continues.
HCL is the purest form of ibogaine. Can anyone tell how much percentage of ibogaine is contained in TA?
Another post regarding ibogaine:
Hi danfitz,
Curious to hear how are you doing with your ibogaine trial?
Have you experienced any visual effects?
What symptoms have improved and what have not?
What are your main symptoms of your PD to begin with?
-Trent
I have experienced no psychoactive effects at the dose I am taking. I am still experiencing improvement but at a much slower pace. Toe curling is completely gone. Neck and shoulder tension is greatly diminished. Arms swing more naturally. Mind is clearer. Tremor has diminished. I am taking about 40% of the sinemet I was taking before I started this.
Hi danfitz,
How's it going with your trial? Do you have any update you want to share with us? I'm considering giving it another try myself to see if I have a different experience than before.
I am still improving but at a glacial pace. I no longer have toe curling or neck and shoulder tension. Tremor is diminished but persistent. I am still taking sinemet. I no longer have “brain fog”. Recently apathy has begun to improve. But as I said I still have tremor and still need sinemet to control it. But at a greatly reduced quantity. I am nearly at the point where I planned to switch over to the extract.
Any update / changes?
I switched to ibogaine TA and have noticed no discernible difference. Improvement has either plateaued or is too slow to be noticed. I am going to try to come up with a set of weekly tasks or measures to make weekly comparisons to find out which it is, a plateau or incrementally slow. Other than that nothing new to report.
Have you noticed any negative effects?
No. None whatsoever that I am certain of. It might be that if I take the second dose too late in the afternoon it makes it more difficult to fall asleep but I am not at all sure that is the case. That is the only thing I have noticed that might be occurring.
Thanks for the post. This is encouraging.
Starting iboga bark root capsules 33mg today. Just don’t know if i take for 5 days and stop for 2 days and repeat or if i go ahead daily without interruption. What do you think ?
Daily at such a low dose. Best wishes and be sure to let us know how it goes.
I still take sinemet, but at a reduced quantity. I try to use as little sinemet as possible and occasionally use THC to quiet the tremor. I dropped taking supplements when I began this routine because I wanted to be reasonably certain of what caused any effects.
for how long THC remains effective
Typically a few hours depending on the dose and intensity of the tremor. BTW steady improvement has returned.
Do you have an opinion about pursuing high dose thiamine concurrently with ibogaine ?
I have already started 2 grams a day since last 5 days
Hi danfitz
How are you doing with Ibogaine? Any news?
I seem to be in a cycle of hitting a plateau then a bit of improvement and then another plateau. After the initial rapid improvement it is disappointingly slow.
But it is improvement nonetheless. So I am quite happy despite the seemingly glacial progress.
Sorry for asking many questions. What are your main complaints with PD now?
My primary symptom is tremor in my right arm and hand. The next one is stiffness and slowed movement. There is a problem with speech as well. Overall, all my symptoms have diminished greatly or disappeared entirely.
An example is toe curling and foot cramps. Before ibogaine I had incidents of toe curling and foot cramps almost every day. Some days I could barely walk. I have only had one mild instance of foot cramping since I began this experiment.
I’ve arranged an acquisition of ibogaine, and will hopefully have it in a few weeks if there are no snafus. I’ll try to report daily once I begin taking it.
is it hcl or TA?
I believe hcl, but I spoke with the supplier about both. I’ll double-check and report back.
Hello danfitz,
Anything to report? Is it still helping to reduce symptoms of PD?
Be well.
Thanks for the interest. I am currently on a hiatus from ibogaine. I want to see if the improvement is permanent. I have not had any ibogaine for a week and so far the improvement in symptoms is holding. Because ibogaine is fat soluble I am giving the hiatus 30 days and will make an assessment then. But so far the improvement is holding.
Thank you for the prompt reply. I have learned a lot from these posts. I wish you continued good health and look forward to hearing how you are doing after the hiatus.
Hi danfitz,
Thanks so much for your brave research. I have been working with Iboga/ibogaine for over a year now, in small to moderate doses (NOT for PD, but for psycho-spiritual development).
However, my father has been diagnosed with PD and just went on Levodopa/Carbodopa (Sinemet), and after speaking with him about Ibogaine treatment, especially that his own son has gone through two flood doses on his own with great success and enhanced well-being, he is willing to give it a try.
What I would like to do is to connect the two of you so that you may compare notes about your progress.
I too am very interested in the long-term permanent changes that Ibogaine could cause to the dopamine system. As you said, taking breaks is where the integration really occurs, and once the receptors are repaired, I wonder if they stay permanently repaired?
This is a very exciting area of study. I think the Ibogaine HCL is the way to go in this scenario as it's the most widely studied alkaloid in the Iboga molecular skeleton.
In the absence of any previous cardiac issues (which can be screened out by getting a heart EKG before any use of Ibogaine, and to ensure your heart has a QT interval in the NORMAL range, not prolonged), there are very little side effects from Ibogaine at a small or moderate dosage level. I would think that someone could even go through a mini-flood (100-500mg of Ibogaine) administered at one time to secure even more long-term benefits. I've found that the larger amount of medicine I take, the larger the healing effects. This is from experience doing anywhere from small 200mg of rootbark, up to 2grams of TA at one time. I have yet to experiment with Ibogaine HCL as that was not as fit for my individual purposes.
Just know you have a firm supporter and believer here, someone who is interested in your exploration and would like to connect you with my father to see if you can compare notes once he is on his protocol.
If you have time, read through one of my online friend's posts, he also posts a very similar question to its efficacy - reddit.com/r/Parkinsons/com...
If you can start a reddit account and post your results there, or in the Ibogaine thread reddit.com/r/ibogaine
Im sure there are many who would appreciate it. We are all an online congregation of researchers and individuals who are most interested in the efficacy, safe use, and prolonged preservation for the treatment of these plants. Thank you for your brave work.
Also Dan, could you share which b-vitamin supplement you are taking along with Ibogaine? I find that part of the protocol very interesting, relevant and intriguing. B-vitamins do help to synthesize neurotransmitters, especially dopamine. Very awesome stuff.
I have been off ibogaine for four weeks now and can report on the permanence of my symptom improvement.
The most significant improvement is that I still have no toe curling. Prior to ibogaine I had toe curling to the extent that without shoes or sandals on I could barely walk. This is the major improvement.
My tremor is diminished but not to the same extent as when I was taking ibogaine. However, the tremor is diminished.
In addition to tremor mitigation all my other symptoms are improved. And like the tremor not to the same extent as when I was on ibogaine. So ibogaine must increase dopamine production or be a dopamine agonist in addition to whatever other impact it has on dopaminergic neurons.
I am taking about 70-75% of the sinemet to control my symptoms that I took prior to trying ibogaine. More than I was taking with ibogaine but less than I was taking before ibogaine.
I am trying to figure out what is next. I think I will initiate an anti alpha synuclean plaque routine for a few months and then restart ibogaine.
In any event I am convinced ibogaine has helped me and plan to use it again after an anti A-synuclean process.
What’s involved in doing an anti A-synuclean process ?
Good strategy, however I feel that you should resume ibogaine after completion of 6 weeks of gap. I have confirmed with experts of ibogaine microdosing that Ibogaine completely flushes away of the body after 6 weeks
Would mannitol be one of the compounds? Thank you, just wondering if there are other things I should be taking .😊
Yes. Mannitol is one.
Can you share what other compounds you intend to try. Maybe we all might benefit from your knowledge. Thanks in advance !
Niagen
Thiamine
Curcumin
Berberine
PPQ
Hi Dan, what is PPQ?
Sorry. I meant pqq.
DanFitz - thank you for your concise posting. This is something that we have been considering for a while and posts like these really help. I will be in touch regarding our own journey once it begins.
Just one question - were there any drugs that your neurologist suggested would not mix well with ibogaine?.. such as antidepressants, I will be checking this with professionals anyway but I am aware with other psychededlic compounds it is generally not recommended to mix.
Thanks again and I wish you all the best my friend,
Daniel
It’s been 4 months....how r u doing?
Your journey sounds amazing.... please update!
Wishing the best
Adnelg
Are you still getting good results with Ibogaine?
Yes. I had a permanent reduction of symptoms after I completed a micro dose course. I am going to start another micro dose course to see if I can achieve another reduction of symptoms next month.
Wow. 1) what do you consider a “microdose course” and 2) have you told your neurologist of your results? (Mine is very skeptical, of course....)
Most of them have myopic view and stick to the textbooks they have read.
20 mg 2x per day together with a b complex. I have kept my neurologist informed.
Gotcha. Thanks a million.
Hey i am going to do it too. Did you experience trippy effects?
Hey where do you get your ibogaine from? I think its hard to find trustworthy suppliers
i end up with ibogaworld, but i have read some bad reviews about their quality, and i really want the pure stuff
I know a trustworthy supplier but he is too expensive. I haven't purchased from him due to the exuberant price
I had been taking root bark powder and TA extract with some dramatic and short lived improvement initially. I have never been able to regain the initial improvement. Now I have ordered ibogaine HCL in a quest to find a relief. I will share the results when it arrives
Hello!
Very interesting information.
Thx for sharing all that.
My father was diagnosed with parkinsons's disease. He is currently taking 6 g Mucuna pruriens (levodopa) and requip 10.
We are trying to get him off synthetic drugs.
Or plan is to start microdosing ibogaine hcl 25 mg/day. He will take this in the morning.
Few hours after that he will take 100mg of 10 x extract of syrian rue seeds (peganum harmala) which is mao inhibitor.
In the after noon he will take 2 g of mucuna powder and 2 grams of ashwagandha.
After dinner he will take mushroom lion's mane and before sleeping requip.
Can anyone comment this plan please?
Thank you so much

Ibogaine is wonder drug and proven to be miraculous in some PD cases. Please keep us posted on the updates
Hello Dan...from this list it seems you started a personal trial using ibogaine about a year ago...but I haven't been able to find any follow up info...any changes? Still on starter dose? Etc.? Thanks...
Hello there danfitz ! I just received my first dose of ibogaine hcl and am ready to embark on a trialof microdosing over the next few weeks. I will keep you updated on my progress here! Please don`t hesitate to reach out if you want to exchange information or compare results! Best, Willy
Hi danfitz ,
Thank you so much for your helpful post and thanks to all contributors!
Are you still seeing good results with Ibogaine?
After reading this discussion, my father wants to try ibogaine himself to relieve his PD symptoms. He found a supplier for ibogaine rootbark (6%). Is that a good source of Ibogaine? What would be a safe dosage to start with?
Thank you!
Hi CGel, Danfitz,
A family member with PD wants to try treatment with Iboga, do you have any suppliers to share? I've ordered 20g root from ibogaworld, but it's been too long and I'm worried it won't arrive or worse (similar drug law like in the US).
I'd go to Africa if there's no other option, but I need a good source for the long run.
I've tried half a flood dose myself (short of crossing over to dream state), to experience for myself before making the suggestion. It was abroad, with a friend who had a small amount to share. It was a very nauseous experience, but felt safe overall, especially considering the intended smaller microdose usage.
Some of the effects that made a previous poster stop treatment (visual trails) are common to iboga use, I started seeing it right about when other effects kicked in - a head buzz, increasing nausea, increased intensity of visualization, and thoughts drifting off without a trace.
I think there might also be benefits in a flood dosage to achieve a reset / kickstart, but I can't bring myself to suggest this person go through the levels of nausea involved.
I understand the medical need to accurately measure the content of active ibogaine in the plant matter, but overall medicine science is new to this option, which has been used traditionally for a very long time. Just like in many other medicinal plants, I expect the other alkaloids and compounds in the plant might also contribute to its effect, but the research isn't there yet.
In ritual use, some people need a much higher dosage to feel the effect, and there's no obvious correlation with body size. I met a woman who also tried it for the first time, she's about 2/3 my weight and hardly felt anything when ingesting double what I took - from the same batch of root. My friend said this was common. This tells me there's room for dosage adjustment - increase dosage to the point where you start noticing the effects (visual trails, buzzing etc), and from there work down to what a microdose should be.
Is it possible that some of the b vitamins you supplements are actually already present in the root?
Any updates on the second course of microdose?
Good luck, and thanks for sharing.
Diagnosed last Monday, your experience and willingness to share is a potent depression lifter. Now to find a reliable supplier!
Can’t believe I haven’t found this before- it would be great to have an update please
Yeah, update please
This post is 3 years old. What was the end result of your ibogaine trial? All the research i have done suggests if done carefully it can help PD.
Dan, are you still on this forum? Thank you for sharing your ibogaine experience. Is anyone else presently using ibogaine?
Yes, I’m still here.
Thank you for your response. Are you still using ibogaine? Would you mind please sharing if your experience with it or opinion of it has changed? I'm 45 and newly diagnosed and am trying to be as proactive as possible.
You might try searching for it. There was a recent post by another member. There are sourcing issues with it, besides the fact that it is illegal in the US.
How quickly did you see improvement? Seems hard to obtain…
Ibogaine may very well be a PD miracle drug (well, herb), but it's impossible to experiment with it in most countries anyways due to the legality of the substance. What you could do instead is simply spend six months in one of the countries where it is legal to conduct your own experiment, like the others did in this thread. Then, stop treatment and return to your home county again. In non-visa countries, tourists can often stay for six months minus one day, depending. Here are the countries where Ibogaine is fully legal vs. controlled vs. illegal:
I have just heard about Ibogaine from a Shawn Ryan Podcast w/ Trevor Millar where he says there are benefits in helping people w/ Parkinson's Disease. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and am very interested in any trials anyone knows about in the PNW. Please keep your observations on how Ibogaine helps. Good luck to all my fellow PD sufferes.. Have a great day.
I read through this thread and a few of the others several times to gain as much insight as I could from your experiences. Thank you Dan for give so much detail on your experience and protocols. I decided to try this for my father because I don't think this is much left to loose as he's had it for 17 years (and also his heart rhythms are fine). I don't want to get my hopes up too far but any mobility and balance improvement will be great, I will update as we progress, we will probably start in April and I will start small with just 5mg and then scale up slowly. I think we will do it for at least 6 months if we notice any improvement.
On another note, I read a science paper from Brazil recently where they asked people mail in samples from various online shops and did a chemical analysis on the samples, it seemed like ibogaine HCL tends to have the highest amount of actual ibogaine contents which is why the HCL might work the best for micro-dosing. here is the link: scielo.br/j/rpc/a/47C7mb4VG...
The content of ibogaine was highly variable, ranging from 0.6% to 11.2% for products sold as iboga root bark, from 8.2% to 32.9% for products sold as TA, 73.7% for one sample sold as PTA and from 61.5% to 73.4% for products sold as ibogaine HCl. One sample did not show any iboga alkaloids. Other alkaloids and unknown substances were found in almost all samples.
Looks like a reasonable approach and a good plan. Please let us know how it goes..
The highly variable potency in the product is maddening is it not? I haven’t been able to find a supplier that is able (willing?) to provide assurances as to the potency of their product. I am on hold until I do.
Ibogaine is a remarkable molecule. Best wishes and good luck to you and your father in exploring it‘a healing properties.
Dan
I was wondering the same thing about testing. I was looking to see if there were any drug testing labs for hire where you can submit a small sample to be analyzed, but this paper was the closest I could find. Based on the paper, I am operating on the assumption that the HCL is the strongest potency option but that it is also cut with a non-poisonous filler. I recall hearing something about talcum powder being a common filler. Since this is for my Dad I am going to take some myself as the guinea pig first to make sure what ever it's cut with isn't poisonous. Now that isn't to say that the filler isn't toxic over long periods etc. But we decided that the risks were worth the possible benefits since he is very limited in mobility, it feels like if he could get some mobility back it would be huge for his quality of life and have positive feedback into staving off further progression.
