Hello Ellababy1,

Here's some information I found about possible exercises for stenosis plr.cht.nhs.uk/download/1095 I would encourage you to seek advice from a health care professional for any new activities/ exercise you do, just to ensure it is safe for you.

I hope that helps. Good luck with your upcoming appointment. I hope you don't have too long to wait. In the mean time, you may like to join one of our online Pain Education sessions to learn more about pain and strategies for managing pain: ow.ly/bz3450SZb7g

Yes they do help. Swimming in the warm sea is the best though xx

Backintelligence.com is well worth going to. Walking in a swimming pool is also very helpful, albeit it makes you look a bit strange!

Thank you, I’ll have a look. I’m sure it’ll be fine. I’m at the stage, I’ll try anything. I thought about perhaps walking in the pool. Does it help with your pain and/ or sleep?

Hi, I have the same thing though it is grade 1 at the moment. I self referred to the Musculoskeletal Service. They do ask who referred you and I said my GP. I have to say that I got the info from my friend as my GP never suggested a physio. When I mentioned to him that I had self referred for physio his actual words were ‘Go for it’….great!! If you are wondering how I know that I have spondylolisthesis, stenosis and pinched nerves, I had an MRI which I asked my GP to refer me for😟. I didn’t have to wait long for an appt. I have a set of exercises from them and saw them face to face. She is great, explained exactly what I had and how it would affect me. The exercises worked with me taking cocodamol twice a day. Then about two months ago the nerve pain in my left leg kicked in. It was awful, I could not walk far. I use a walker. My GP prescribed Gabapentin which has worked really well and the physio added exercises for sciatica. I am due to see her again in the next few weeks. Did your surgery refer you to the neurophysiotherapist. The thing is my exercises are for my particular problem, and I think you need exercises especially for yours. Hope you see someone soon, there is a good support group for Spondylolisthesis on FB.

I’m waiting for the neurophysio but it will be next year. Private is £85 😱

I’ve self referred to MSK in meantime but still no word. I might phone today to see where I am on their list.

I’ve got a walker too and it does help me to get out the house for a bit.

Nerve pain is murder. I hope you get some relief. I didn’t like Gabapetin so on pregablin. It’s not really helping.. Thank you for the fb info.

That’s a shame. I didn’t have to wait long for an appt. So hopefully you will get one soon. I have not had any side effects from Gabapentin so far. They work well for me.
