have you had any MRIs? I learned that much of my pain came from tendon tears in shoulders, hip and knee that were all caused by high doses of prednisone that I took off and on for a year in order to raise my low platelets.

Oh yes over last couple years have MRI s, catscans, exrays, showing several issues, tears, ruptured disk caused severe pain on nerves in spine buldging disk and of course degenerativedisks and spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis and been on pred for over 8 yrs origially diagnosed with Pmr, so drs do believe prednisone had contributed to tears etc, so hip is separate issue, orthopaedic surgeon says can fix hip, but not my back,

Oh sounds terrible, are you headed for hip replacement? Well Im scheduled for one Feb 20, but blood levels have dropped, rbc , hemoglobin, and back is in bad shape, worried about necessary exercises you must do before and after, was going to ask about a cortisone shot in back, can only take tylenol still being on prednisine, and have been for over 8 years, no dr had mentioned pain patches to me, I an very apprehensive and stressed about it all

Here in the UK they were prescribed by the main manament clinic not sure about any other country but worth asking your doctor about transdermal patches . Hope you get your operation take care.x
