The main danger in this situation is that if you take more than prescribed then you'll run out and might not be able to get more for some time. If you really need more, or something else, then you need to convince your doctor of that.

Hello mikejames, its best to follow doctor's advice Tramadol is not just a painkiller it does affect other things in your body and how they work. Large doses can result in you becoming addicted. Scotsman53 has mentioned the other reason for not taking more than prescribed.

i was prescribed 4 a day. Then about year into it they upped me to 8.a day. Scotsman has the right idea. As far as taking to much the biggest thing is you will run out and be without.Drs dont try to make you pain free just keep were you can deal with it. To bad they dont have a device to clip on our finger and give a true pain level reading. I started PM 7yrs ago and its not perfect but pain no longer is a constant.

I used tramadol 2 tablets every 4 hours. Depending of your pain your doctor can suggest different doses but if isn’t helpful best what u can to do call back to doc and tell him. They really carefil with tramadol because people like to abuse this medication

best way to consult with gp. Obviously everyone got a different pain and different doses

Is really important they explain about pain management how and when dealing with and how avoid tolerance

You don’t say what dosage each tablet has so we have no idea if viable to take more. However all other comments are correct you really SHOULDN’T increase tablets (any tablets not just Tramadol) without gp knowledge. Tramadol is highly addictive and care should be taken with them. GPs will usually prescribe minimum possible so if you need more then this is something you should discuss with gp. Also as well as risking running out of medication, there is a huge risk in gp querying (especially Tramadol) why you are getting through so many tablets at a quick rate. From this site it has become apparent that GPs are reducing many pain medications, due to addiction concerns, (am NOT suggesting you are addicted am just warning about something that has been discussed on this site) and without their support you run the risk of gp deciding not to continue prescription.
