Has anyone come across IDD therapy for disc herniation, stenosis etc.
It stands for Intervertebral Differential Dynamics and is a modern form of traction pioneered in the USA which osteopaths in UK are offering but is quite expensive given they recommend 20 sessions.
I can't see many reviews on Dr Google as to its effectiveness but perhaps this is a common form of therapy in the USA?
Thanks

Hi. I am in the UK and had a lot of IDD sessions for a disc herniation ( L5S1)which was leading to terrible sciatica.
It was really expensive and did nothing for the first ten sessions. I was persuaded to have ten more and then a further 5. It was this point the technician told me the machine had been serviced for the first time for ages and it felt very different! Much more stretching.
At that point my back felt a lot better and I have been trouble free for about 18 months.
So a long post (sorry) but I think it did help in the long run… but it was very expensive and please check when the clinic last had their machine serviced!!
Great, thanks for the reply Hurtsalot and I am glad that you have been trouble free for 18 months.
Mine is also L5S1 and I have been recommended a steroid injection and then IDD if the injection doesnt work. Combined, both would cost a small fortune hence why I am asking others experience so your reply has helped. 25 sessions is a big commitment!
I had an injection about 3 months before the IDD on the NHS. It worked fine but wore off. They then refused to repeat the injection saying the next step was surgery. I definitely wanted to avoid that if at all possible. Good luck!!
