I may have posted before, and apologize if you ate reading this again, but thinking some of you may not have seen, down to 4 mgs of pred now over 4 weeks, just had bloodwork done couple days ago, inflammation markers appear to be im normal range, had RA test done, result negative, been told have osteo in back and hip re MRI s, this latest development of painful hands started up im thinking maybe around same time as started taper frm 5-4 mgs pred, but oddly some motnings ie yesterday not as bad as today? If weather or low pressure can influence pain yesterday and today sun shining so thinking rule that out, anyone out thete havevsame scenario?

Similar to you an MRI found nothing in the spine, but my hands and feed are not good. Eventually they diagnosed me with Psoriatic Arthritis, which is RA seronegative, and often inflammation levels are low. You don't have to have full blown psoriasis to have PsA, sometimes people only have the joint pain. But there is usually some psoriasis in the family.

thank you well I have psoraisis, , arms and ears but o course recent bloodwork showed RA negative, can only take tylenol because U m stipp om prednisone, and the tylenol doesnt do much for the pain

There is no blood test for PsA. A negative RA marker doesn't matter. There is a genetic test for HLA-B27 but even that should only be to confirm.

have a read of this website and see what you think.

I know this will seem daft, but years ago I had painful hands, kept me awake at night, doctors gave me all sorts of pain relief but nothing worked. My doctor was clutching at straws but she said to have a blood test for vit d. The test came back as abnormal , so I was out on high dose of vit d for 3 months, pain vanished. In still taking them and although I have arthritis in my fingers nothing like pain I had before. I hope you get it sorted

Hi, I have tingling in my hands and fingers and it turned out to be connected to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which I have in my wrists. My hands get extremely sore too and my grip is very poor. I didn't know that CTS could have been the problem. I hope this helps. Take care xx
