i’ve only just recovered/ recovering from one problem and another has started 😔. 3 days ago i started with a really bad stomach ache pain in my abdomen but then the pain went round to my back, the bottom of my back. it was awful pain i couldn’t sit without pain or sleep on my back or on my sides without being in bad pain. i thought maybe its constipation so took tablets and managed to poop. but the pain was horrendously still there. even getting off the chair was bad because it made my back so painful. last night i was almost going to go to a&e. it got that bad. but i thought i will go tomorrow. i woke up and suddenly the pain was less! i thought its gone! slowly its coming back. what can this be?? anybody understand?

Hi Junny,

Sounds very painful for you. It could be constipation even if you have managed to Pooh a little. It could be any manner of things. You haven’t mentioned what you have recently recovered from so it could be related or maybe you were never diagnosed by a doctor? You may not wish to discuss here which is fine. I strongly recommend that you contact your doctor and get an appointment, not a telephone consultation.

Hi sweetie. I have a bad kidney infection with pain in the same areas. I've finished my antibiotics but the pain came back.

Maybe see your Doctor as an emergency..

I take morphine and co codamol to ease the fibromyalgia.

The kidney pain is worse first thing in the morning for me.

Good luck sweetie hugs dawn

Another possibility is muscles. When my son said he had stomach pain, everyone assumed it was inside his gastrointestinal system. It wasn't, it was muscles and nerves around his ribcage. It was really annoying because everyone thought it was constipation at first, but my son kept telling them it wasn't related to consitpation, eating, food, or anything like that. It took us a long time to get through to them that it might be something else.

If some of the many interconnected muscles in your trunk went into spasm, that can irritate nerves, which can result in pain. So that is something else to keep in mind.

Hi Junny,Are there any other symptoms adjacent to the onset of the pain? Like nausea, indigestion, bitter taste in your mouth? How is it related to the intake of your food? It could be pain irradiating from your gallbladder or pancreas.

This is important. Was it bright red, or kind of brownish?I would think of the stomach ulcer first. Anyway, bleeding demands instrumental evaluation, and your gp should schedule you for the gastrostomy as soon as possible.

Sorry, not gastrostomy, gastroscopy of course.

it was more bright red than brownish

The reason I asked is that blood gets the brown colour when it contacts hydrochloric acid in the stomach. So brown color comes from stomach or duodenum. If the bleeding is from oesophagus, it is red.Wherever it is coming from, gastroscopy is required to see, what is going on and to treat this accordingly. The sooner the better. In the meantime, I would suggest to avoid hot and spicy or acidic meals. It should be mild in taste and warm in temperature to avoid any provocation. No alcohol.

I know it sounds silly, but try to remain calm. Nerves won't do you anything good. Just contact your gp promptly, and you'll get it sorted out.

If it is muscle spasms, using magnesium bisglycinate might help.
