Out of alignment/pelvis

Hello, I started having back issues 5 years ago. After 5 months off work I posted on a pain forum & was advised to see a McTimoney Chiropractor. I did & it changed my life. Got me better & back to work. I only saw them twice a year for maintaince, for the last few years. The last few months I’ve been struggling again. I went to see my chiropractor & he re-aligned me. Pretty much right away after, I still didn’t feel right. I went back within 3 weeks (struggled so much in that time) he re-aligned me again. My left hip & rib were touching again. Now, I still don’t feel right. Lower back pain. Both hips hurting. Pelvic pain. I think it’s probably happening again. He said to text in the new year if I’m still not right but I’m just wondering if there’s anything I can do to help myself, in the meantime? It’s never been like this before, I’m usually ok for months. It is making me very anxious, down & emotional. I’m a full time mum to a 3 year old & I live in Nottingham. We have a full & busy, active life. Thank you for reading.

I used to see an osteopath once or twice a year and found the same thing, it always got me on track again. But the last time I saw them I didn't feel any different afterwards, I knew something was different. I went to my GP and asked for a referral to a rheumatologist. It wa a big of a fight, but eventually I was referred.

The first one dismissed me with fibro without actually checking my symptoms and signs against the criteria. After a formal complaint he suggested I have a second opinion.

The second opinion found psoriatic arthritis.

They always say if things change it time to see the doctor again, because it could be something else. If the chiro isn't working, it will be worth checking things out.

Can I please ask how they found it was arthritis? Was it scans? Thanks

They took a history, did all the blood tests, looked at the x-rays and MRI. But with psoriatic arthritis there is also things like nail involvement.

One thing I found helpful to gather in all the symptoms is to do a symptom matrix. I listed my symptoms down the left side of a table (as in spreadsheet type table) and across the top I listed potential conditions or diseases. A lot of symptoms appear in multiple conditions for instance fatigue is present in many rheumatological conditions, but only pitted nails appears in psoriatic arthritis. I also have Hashimoto's which is an autoimmune disease and once people have one autoimmune disease diagnosed it is more likely that they will develop others.

So when my GP tried to fob me off with 'you are just getting old' (I had had some symptoms from my 40s) I was able to put the matrix in front of him and lay out just how many different symptoms I had.

The idea is based on this blog only on an individual and their symptoms rather than attribute and permutations.
