I have had chronic pelvic pain for 6 years. The symptoms aren't as bad as they used to be. I have literally tried everything but last week, as a final throw of the dice, I had a botox injection into the pelvic floor. I am not at all sure about this, burning symptoms possibly better, but defecation seems more difficult. Anyone out there with relevant experience?

Botox Injection for Chronic Pelvic Pain
Hi Harry,
I have experience with Botox injections but in my QL back muscles.
Like yourself I tried everything but in my case to relieve my lower back from severe muscle spasms (back self protection) as a result of facet joint arthritis. I went private as in Edinburgh botox injection for my condition is not available. Worth a try in your area though as it differs across the regions.
I had 5 injections in my lower back and it took about 2 weeks to feel the full relief. My specialist advised that it should provide the necessary relief for 4-6 months. That gives me a window to pursue physio to strengthen my back/ hip muscles to take the load (rather than the spine).
It is working for me and I hope it works for you. I have me info if you need it. Let me know.

Thanks for your reply Bill. I have had a better couple of days so I am feeling more hopeful. I feel exactly as you do about a window of opportunity to get better with pelvic floor exercises in my case. The Pain Consultant, who was very good, told me that my muscles were very tight so hopefully they have already started to ease off. The 6 injections I had cost me £1000 so I can't do this procedure very often
Best Wishes
Harry
