After over 30yrs of being in constant chronic pelvic and back pain, and not getting the slightest bit of relief, does anybody think that morphine or morphine type patches could help with my pain after having it for so many years,or possibly a spinal in plant?

Have you really managed 30 years with no [[aim relief? That is one huge OW. Do they not work or have you never been offered anything?

Usually, if anything can be usual with CP, you start on a low to medium cocktail of paim relief with. ,aybe alternative like acupuncture. When these no longer give you the same relief you either increase dosage, dd another to the cocktail or change to something stronger.

Morphine is the strongest and to start at that level may not be advisable. But if you have tried other drugs without success then OK.

Speak with your GP or get an appt at your pain clinic. There are of course many ways to achieve some relief. Pacing yourself. Gentle exercise. Physio.

But do speak with your GP and get professional advice.

Hi, I have had chronic back pain for 15 years, morphine is all that would receive my disk problems, I am one lucky one as I have managed to stay on this drug, cannot get operation as three disk in a row are effected and lungs are so bad I would not wake up if they could operate. As I said I am fortunate as I have not had to increase dose and that is where you can get into big trouble with morphine as it can be very addictive and not many people can do as I have been able to do, so it is a last resort kind of drug because it can be so addictive. Hope this helps but it is a drug you must be very carefull of.

30 years is a long time to be in pain I feel for you I really do as Paton has said ask to go too a pain clinic for help

As others have suggested, a visit to pain clinic may be useful. Chronic pain isn't usually something GPs are particularly knowledgeable about treating, though if you haven't had anything from your GP yet, it would definitely be worth discussing it with them and seeing what they can offer first.

I echo what the others have said. I have osteoarthritis in my hips, back and other joints. I am currently on morphine 7 day patched which work for me. I do suffer from side effects such as nausea and skin reaction to the morphine gel but the benefits outweigh the negatives. I started on over the counter pain killers and then worked my way through the stronger stuff until I arrived at the patches. I am very lucky to have a great GP. I wish you well for the future.
