Side effects of nortriptyline

My gp prescribed me 25mg of nortriptyline for pain which I’ve been taking for 4 nights, today I’ve been getting quite breathless on and off all day . I’ve got a flu type virus that I’ve had for around a month that comes and goes which has started up again so that’s not helping but I’m a bit concerned about feeling so breathless , I have a pacemaker for heart rhythm problems and heart pauses , I also had pericarditis last December so I’m always a bit wary about any changes in my breathing . I will be hopefully getting a gp phone appointment tomorrow but just thought I’d ask peoples experiences of this medication . I haven’t taken it tonight just incase it is causing my breathing problems . Thank you

I’ve been taking Nortriptyline for several years now for nerve pain, with very few s effects. I take between 20 -50mgs per night. Depending on severity of pain. Certainly not breathlessness. Mainly get slow passing urine some of the time. Slight shakiness. Which wears off after a time. They help me a lot. So persevere. See doctor breathlessness. But don’t suddenly stop taking them. Taper off them over a few days.

I’ve used Nortriptyline for almost 13 years due to pain from a severe nerve compression injury. It does cause some weight gain ( which can be controlled with a lean diet and with drinking water all day long) and fatigue. I hope you’re taking it at night only.
