If you are an Android smartphone user and suffering from fibromyalgia, or rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis and living in the UK, then help us improve the way chronic pain is measured.

We are asking participants to complete two questionnaire and submit a daily pain manikin report for 30 days via a smartphone app. As a thank you, we will share a summary report and a gift voucher.

Thanks for your interest. If you fibromyalgia or RA or OA, then you can take part. Manikin is an exciting way of reporting chronic pain.

Pain can be managed better, if it is measured in a better way. Consumer technologies, like smartphones can do a lot with digital data which can be used for range of activities, e.g., clinical decision making, better self-management, treatment effectiveness.

This study is remote. No physical presence is required at any stage. Please send email to painmanikin@manchester.ac.uk and someone will pick up from there. Thanks

It's a shame it doesn't include lupus as that's systemic inflammation especially of the MSK system. Was it not included for a reason?

As there is no valid and reliable pain measurement tool that can be used at scale, we wanted to validate it with specific conditions first. To achieve scientific rigour we picked three conditions at this point. Certainly, going forward we will test this tool with wider MSK community
