My knees sound like an old door and occasionally ache but I'm only 21? I have run everyday for the past 4 years though, is it osteoarthritis?

Sounds like you are over doing your joints. Also sounds like Osteoarthritus . You need to see your doctor or get advise from a physiotherapist and if I were on your shoes I definitely would do less running, your getting a warning sign

That creaky sound could be crepitus (I used to get it when marathon training). Agree with rabbits65 that you should see a physio. Consider picking up Pilates around your running to help protect your joints (many of the exercises a physio will suggest are Pilates based). Running techniques like Chi Running can help minimise impact and keep you running for life!

You could have arthritis behind your knee caps, when I move my knees by hand I could hear cracking, and that is what my GP said it was,

I had creaks and cracking noises in my joints going back to my teenage years. My mother took me to the doctor but was fobbed off with, oh it’s because she is still growing, or similar. Now, a lot of years later, I’m told I have a genetic bone condition! My main problems started with arthritis in my neck and then other parts of my anatomy. I’m not saying this to frighten, but to make sure you do something about it and don’t get fobbed off!
