Welcome, I have an appointment with a dermatologist next week and I think I have psoriasis arthritis. I have osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and spondylolisthesis. Taking 600mg daily Pregablin plus Tramadol. I have gained an awful lot of weight from the Pregablin. Does the Methotrexate help you? Take care.

Yes. I’m under a Rheumatologist for 15 mg Methotrexate a week, and a dermatologist for Adalimabub injections two weekly. They don’t cure it, but they definitely help. They lower your immune system though, and I am prone to infections now.

Some people can’t tolerate Methotrexate, but I’ve been on it for years, along with Folic Acid tablets.

Good luck.

Hello, I'm 35 and also has Psoriatic arthritis... Took small patch of psoriasis on my scalp and then few years later developed arthritis. Unfortunately the arthritis/inflammation also reaches my tendon/enthesis so it's pretty rotten at that start whilst they try establish the right path for you. I'm currently about to go on 25mg of methotrexate and adding in another DMARD but my rheumatologist has hinted that biologics work better at resolving any Enthesitis so I think I'm heading in that direction. I've had my covid infection and kenolog I jections this week and trying to remain positive that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Think we are probably all feeling this way. Good luck hope things settle down for you soon. X

Hi. I was just scrolling through some posts and thought yours was interesting. I am suspected of having psoriatic arthritis (tho no psoriasis) mainly due to tendon and ligament pain. I have just been diagnosed with a skin condition called scleroedema (not scleroderma) but not sure how the 2 conditions inter-relate, if at all. I was just wondering if your joint/tendon puffiness and pain tend to hop around your body. I can have quite a painful area at the side of my right knee for a day or so then wake up the next day and that had subsided and both my ankles feel tender...as if sprained. I can have sore swellings in my inner elbows for a day and then wake up with sore hips and/or groin.

Last summer I was really poorly with it all over my body but eventually a moderate dose of steroids (prednisolone) corrected it. I started methotrexate in Oct. Now on 20mg (I refused a higher dose. ) but my symptoms are returning now that I am weaning off the steroids (now only on 5mg). I am not convinced that Methotrexate has done much for me. I think it's the Prednisolone that has been controlling the inflamation. I'd be interested to know your experience of steroids and methotrexate plus what biologics would do better.

Thanks. C7

Hi and welcome here, I am 39 and was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis last Oktober as well and I was about to start methotrexate, but I have tested positive for COVID-19. My rheumatologist advised me not to take mtx for four weeks. I still have flare ups and my left knee is still swollen it had to be aspirated five time within two months. I have not been able to bend or straighten my leg for three months it is a horrible feeling. All this time on strong pain killers but I will get an steroid injection on my knee and hopefully this will reduce the inflammation and will be able to use my leg.

Hi NJW92, i started with psoriasis 3 years ago and through that also got diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and was told, looking at my medical history, that i'd probably had it for many years (20+). I already had osteoarthritis and a couple of joint replacements. I take cosentyx and etoricoxib for both conditions and my joints are so much better than they've ever been. I was on methotrexate at first (for a year) but it wasn't helping and did affect my liver slightly. All my bloods were fine after 3 months being off it.
