Has he been tested for RSI - repetitive strain injury? Usually affects middle finger and inside of two adjacent fingers

No, typical man, will not go to the GPS. When it stops him doing what he wants he will go!

I get this and the best advice I can give is get a thumb splint, my physio recommended it and it helped so much with pain, I wear mine as soon as the pain starts or wear it when I know what I'm about to do will flare it up. The thumb splint saved me from having to have injections into the joint from the Drs.

for me it stopped pain in my thumb and the pain in wrist and the pain that started going into forearm. It's definitely worth a try before steroid injections and pain killers.

Hope it works for your hubby, it's amazing how many things we need to use a thumb for

We can't really diagnose things here, especially as there are so many bones and tendons in the hand and wrist. If he won't go to the GP then clearly it doesn't bother him that much and he needs to be told to man up! ;-)

Next time it happens what about him going to a minor injuries unit. There is usually very short waiting times to be seen there. But be warned, some of them will refuse to see you for things that you should really see your GP for. They will only send him back to the GP so he may as well go there first!

5 months ago I tripped and fell hard on both outstretched hands onto concrete. I was in severe pain in my hands particularly the thumb joints and wrists. In 4 months I saw three doctors. Dr 1 said I had Arthritis Dr 2 A&E said I had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Dr 3 said I did not have CT Syndrome as I dont experience tingling or numbness in my fingers. Instead I have damaged the tendons and ligaments. All three advised Ibuprofin cream. Here I am 5 months later still with pain in my wrists and thumb joints. I have severe pain if pressure is put upon those joints like opening a bottle pulling or turning or twisting using my hands. I have splints to wear & Compression gloves and still it goes on I am 75 yrs old and now since the accident I have developed arthritis. Help?
