Alternative Pain Management Paths

Hi, i joined the group to get some advice. my father has very bad (chronic) lower back pain and has had it for a little over 18months. unfortunately because of Covid, his treatment through the NHS has slowed down (and to be honest, while the NHS are amazing, i don't think he was making much progress here). I wanted to ask

1) has any one tried any private online pain management programmes (app or web based) that they could recommend?

2) has any one got any advice on any alternative medicines that i can explore for my father?

thx in advance

Did your father get a diagnosis from the NHS? This may help in recommending any alternative treatment

hi, yes he did. he started treatment but because of COVID, his treatment has slowed, if not stopped all together. which is why we're exploring online treatment programs (whether that's face to face with a specialist or an app enabled solution) and alternative medicines. wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with any programs, tools or medicines. Unfortunately, we've not been any guidance from the NHS on either of the above.

OK but can you say what his diagnosis is?

When you say lower back is the pain in his lumbar spine or is it farther down below his tailbone?

Can your father sit pain free? Can he bend over and lift without causing pain? Maybe he needs a medical grabber to pick things up off the floor. Maybe garbage cans should be on counters.

What does his pain feel like? Does it throb? Does it tingle? Does it burn?

Can he still urinate and have bowel movements pain free?
