Is massage therapy treatment effective for back pain?

Hey there,

I'm from Thornhill, and I'm here to get suggestions from you guys. Has anyone tried massage therapy treatment? I had met with an accident a few months back. There were only some minor injuries, and it's getting better with time. But my back pain is unbearable. I'm stressed due to this. Recently, I started taking pain killers for the same. When discussed with my friends, they suggested going for massage therapy. One of my friends suggested massage therapy treatment clinic( physioactive.ca/our-service... in Thornhill. He said that his friends who tried this treatment had good results.

But I'm not so sure of it. When googled, there are mixed results. I would like to get your suggestions as well. Next week, I have fixed the appointment. My back pain is more severe when I do some work that requires force. Has anyone experienced similar pain? Share your suggestions and how you guys treated it?

Thanks!

Hi Whostravion ,

Sorry to hear about your back pain! It is lucky that there were no serious injuries, but I understand that your ongoing back pain still makes your life stressful.

The most important thing is to consult your healthcare professionals/GP, if you haven't so far, to make sure your pain doesn't signal anything serious. As we are not qualified to give you advice, I would definitely encourage you to bring up your idea about a massage with them as well - they are in the best position to tell if this is safe or even helpful to do with your recent injuries.

You say you are stressed about your pain, which is completely fair - who wouldn't be? Unfortunately, stress can make your pain experience worse, turning the whole thing into a vicious cycle. On the flip side though, there is evidence that simple relaxation techniques can go a long way in reducing your pain. Check out our leaflets on Stress, Pain and Relaxation (painconcern.org.uk/stress-p... and Managing your Pain (painconcern.org.uk/manage-y... to see if these can help.

In any case, it is always safest to rely on the advice of medical professionals, especially during a recovery like yours.

Hope this was helpful and stay safe!

Have you tried Epsom salt baths, magnesium oil spray and ingesting magnesium bisglycinate tablets three times a day?

Hi there if there were no serious injuries you may well benefit. I have had herniated discs and a slipped disc plus knotted and pulled or very tight muscles. Muscle issues can be so so painful. I go for dtm (deep tissue massage), You have to look for a sports masseur who has a good reputation and does dtm (not Swedish massage) and book a regular spot, it feels great for muscular issues. If you want to be sure this is the way forward you could try and see a musculoskeletal specialist, who will evaluate your condition.
