Hi everyone. I’m just wondering if you can help me.
I get sciatica in my left leg and since my last really bad flare up a year ago, i get cramp in the same leg. It only happens when I’m in bed and and I happen to stretch in my sleep. I’m absolutely fine during the day.
I’m just wondering if it is normal. I’ve never had it before but it’s literally every night, a few times a night for the past year. I think it’s quite rare now to go a night or 2 without it. Are sciatica and cramp linked? Should I do stretches in the day to see if that helps? I can’t see a doctor right now with the current proceedings that are happening but just thought I’d ask for any advice here.
Thanks

Hi, I also have sciatica in my left leg and also get a lot of cramp in exactly the same place. I have had to learn not to stretch that leg and when I feel it coming on, I have to concentrate on relaxing my leg. It's just one of those things!
Tenn bear, do 15 min stretches on back on floor, lower body only, leg lifts, knees up (look on youtube) and do it just before bed time, also in morning....and take just one small dose magnesium oxyde at night ( unless you already are taking vitamins with minerals). Sleep with a hard pillow between legs on your side. It helped me and hope you will soon be crampless. I would not allow it to be „just one of those things“ too young at 82 😜
It's a difficult time at the moment when we can't use our usual sources of support, like our GP. Some of the other forum members might also have some support for you.
Oy vey! Hate those cramps, just like you describe them. Started taking smallest dose magnesium oxide, cheap, but stopped for a while but will take it again....Instead i do 15 min stretches recommended by pain specislist just before going in bed. Those stretches are done on the floor on your back.....do them in morning too. The cramps are connected to the cause of your sciatica for sure. They were so bad, both legs, lasted 15 min and muscles hurt all day. No more. Stretches and more stretches! Good luck!
