Sinus

I’ve had a really bad headache that just won’t go.. then slowly noticed my eyes started to hurt then my face seemed to hurt in general. I just couldn’t understand what the pain was. Until a friend mentioned sinusitis. After reading up on it it seems like it definitely is that. Does anybody have that problem? What’s the best remedy if any?

Hi

I'm sorry you are suffering with this painful condition, I used sudofed, also hot water with Vic in it, put a towel over your head and breathe in. It does sound like you need antibiotics, so I would phone for a telephone consultation in the morning. I hope you have some relief soon. Take care Lynne

Oh, I'm sorry , I never thought of that and I'm diabetic so should have thought about it. Are you phoning the drs in the morning? Take care Lynne

in reply to

I phoned the surgery this morning and the doctor is going to call me back sometime before 1.00

in reply to

Had he phoned

in reply to

Yes he phoned. After asking about all my symptoms he said it definitely seems like you have sinusitis. Told me to take painkillers at the moment and not antibiotics because it’s too early to Take them. And after a couple of weeks I have to ring them back if it doesn’t improve. I’m glad I rang because he asked all the questions which confirmed it actually is sinusitis

I really hope you see some improvement soon

I’ve suffered since my teens. A nice person in my supermarket suggested using Sterimar when my sinusitis was so bad my face puffed up. I’ve found this easier to use than a neti pot as I can carry it around. Soil dust (bacterial trigger) causes very bad episodes in summer so I use Sterimar as a prophylactic when in dusty environments.

Hi BadHare you’ve had it for a very long time haven’t you? Does it come and go at certain times? And is it always as bad as you’ve described ?

Are you implying I’m old? 😳

I am , & it’s been & off, but only severe when exposed to dust in summer or very run down &/or simmering in winter. I haven’t needed antibiotics since using a neti pot then Sterimar.

It’s common with hypothyroidism & possibly other conditions were people have low basal temperature as this can negatively affect our immune system.

No! Not at all. What made you think that lol?

I’ve only used the standard one, but find this effective.

Hi Sid,

I suffer from this and vertigo and strangely treat it in the same way with ear candles! They are really marvellous. You lie on one side put the ear candle in, light it and just relax while it burns down to the disc, have a glass if water to hand and just pop them in. All you feel is a gentle warming. Then turn over and do the other side. It's much better if you've got someone with you who can watch them.

They work by relieving the pressure in your ears and sinuses, by creating a gentle vacuum and rebalancing the pressure.

You can buy them on Amazon be sure to get the ones that come with the cardboard discs.

If your sinusitis is quite bad you may need to do it more than once, but make sure you leave 24 hours between.
