I slipped and fell down from the stairs a few days ago. The pain was extremely severe. I'm not able to walk properly. My mom applied ointment and placed a hot water bag on the affected area. I feel relaxed for a few hours but the pain began after that. Also, I tried painkillers to get relief.
All these lasted for some time and I didn't get complete relief.
When I discussed this with my friend, she suggested me to consult a physiotherapist. I saw this clinic providing physiotherapy treatment( physionow.ca/locations/miss... ).
Have anyone here approached them for services? Please do chime in your suggestions.
Thanks in advance!!

I haven't any experience with them. Could you go to a and e where you will get an x-ray or your GP could send you for an x-ray so that you will know what damage you will have done. Take care Lynne
Well it can take awhile to heal a bad fall. You should see your doctor they can Rx you flexeril it’s a back Medication good for at night to relax you and in day take robaxacet. Physio will help to do some movement. Ice packs and heat help. Take a bath every night with Epsom salts. Physio is great and also going for massage if you can handle it. I use a heat pad for at night great investment. You want circulation to the area to heal. Hang in there it’s crazy how much it hurts and watch your bending techniques.. squat don’t bend over!
I don’t live in GTA but one would have to assume that they would be able to handle a lower back/sciatic injury considering you mentioned decreased ability to walk after slip.
Why not go to ER and get an X-ray? Physio will want this and they generally want a referral from GP or emerg doc for extended health coverage as physio is not covered by OHIP. Try alternating cold and hot compress by the way. Cold will decrease inflammation from an acute injury better as heat only relaxes the muscles but it could be that you have bruised bone etc. X-ray would be the priority so that if u do start physio they will treat you and not just send you for one.
Try Advil for pain as it acts as anti inflammatory which will help with pain. Try swimming to keep joint area mobile and takes weight off area so not to cause more damage.
Take care and hopefully with rest you be back to your usual self.
could I ask why you haven't gone to A&E or urgent care? If you can't walk, it might be a good idea to find out why. Urgent care centres are free in Ontario, that physio centre is not necessarily free under OHIP. Physios can help rehabilitate, but why pay for that before you know what the problem is?
I would go to your G. P before you do anything and if he thinks you need treatment he/she will refer you to the best treatment. I suffer with chronic pain in my back and legs so I know the best course of action is G. P as only they can refer you. Good Luck I hope you get some relief soon 👍
Hi John.. Think the best thing to do is get it checked out properly. Ideally your first port of call is your GP, if they think you need to have an xray, they will arrange it or send you. . A lot people go to an A&E, but only do that if it's really bad.
In the meantime best thing to do is to try to reduce any swelling, so try to keep your foot elevated, kep the weight off it and take anti inflammatory tablets, like ibruprofen.Have a chat with your local pharmacist to make sure you can take them, but don't take them on an empty stomach.
You may have damaged a ligament... hopefully not a tendon.... or it might be just a sprain.
Please get checked out. I fell on my stairs and thought it was just bruising, but the pain got worse and I ended up having 3 fractures in ny sacrum. Good luck!
